A productive evening!
Last night I was supposed to go out with a friend and enjoy a few "non-alcoholic"bevereges (ahem!!!)
Unfortunately, the evening was cancelled as she is suffering from ill health and wouldn't have been comfortable or pain free sitting in a local hostelry.
So,with money I saved from the decision,I bought pair of silver earrings with complimentary cleaning cloth thrown in!
This started a whole new chain of events!I dug out my jewellery box and found gold and silver bangles, rings, pendants and earrings that I had forgotten even purchasing, never mind wearing!
They're all now cleaned, sparkling, and ready to co-ordinate with any outfit I wear!
Was so proud of myself for finally completing this task, and does my heart good to see this stuff brought back to it's rightful glory!
What task do you think about often, then take the plunge,do it,and go to bed with a smug satisfied smile?
Clean replies only please!!!

Re: A productive evening!
Patterns............when I cruise boot sales and thrift shops I'm forever picking up patterns of things I'm going to knit, crochet etc. My stash of patterns builds up and nothing much gets made. I also tend to pick up odds and ends of wool and crochet cotton and toss it into my box. I'm forever thinking I need to get into this box, sort it, organize it, clean it out and actually MAKE SOMETHING out of everything I've bought.
A few years ago I crocheted over 80 hats I donated to the local church to hand out to the homeless - THAT was my last really satisfying task and I keep thinking I've got the 'material' sitting there and I've got the patterns I just need to get down to it and actually DO/MAKE what I intend to make.
I 'could' do this - organize my heap now - but noooooooo I'll save it for later today

Re: A productive evening!
Our littlest grandchild is here with us often and recently she helped herself to one of my crystal tumblers from the glass section of my wall unit, little bugger is getting taller and we forget that, anyway, she dropped it , so i cleaned up after her told her she wasnt to touch them and while i was there i noticed that the rest of the crystal bits and bobs could do with a much needed and rarely completed clean up, so i cleaned every piece and rearranged the whole section in the unit, went to bed very smug with the glass and crystal glinting at me !
You get out of life what you are prepared to put in!

Ohhhhhhhhhh Christine you've now reminded me of a task "I" need to do although personally I quite like leaving a film of dust on all the china and crystal so as to avoid me having to wear sunglasses in the house when all that crystal 'glints' at me. You have to be real careful about all this. Don't chance the eyes Christine - get those glasses at the first hint of a glint!
As the days are getting shorter and the nights colder (39 degrees last night - Farenheit) I've known for a while I need to get all my tropical inside houseplants back in (they get put out in the summer so they can get some much deserved sun - makes 'em linger longer before I off 'em). Finally got the job done and must that sense of task accomplished does feel good.

I've been struggling to find things in the store cupboard for ages. Finally took the plunge and cleared it out yesterday. Feels so much better, and got rid if all of those things with a use by date of 2004 !

Re: A productive evening!
Soooooooo - Can't say I have a different problem (finding items in the cupboards that expired several years ago) - BUT BUT BUT - what do you do with them?
I have a few rules - if it goes back to the 1990ies those I feel justified in throwing out. IF it expires in the early 2000's then I donate it to the food bank (yeah I know), and if it is in the late late 2000's as in 2010/2011 then I might try and use it right away OR I put it back to think about it later (so I can always have stuff to donate to the food bank!!)
What DO you DO with all that expired stuff? What does your conscience allow you to do?

It all got thrown away I'm afraid, but it was rubbish like solid lamb oxo in a bottle and hard bicarbonate. Nothing was actually edible other than 5 year old lasagne - wouldn't have wanted to try it though.

Re: A productive evening!
All my clothes (except those required for next week and those for my holiday) are now all ironed and packed away in vacuum bags along with most of the bedding. You are probably wondering why I would spend time and energy doing this - there are two reasons - last time I went away for 4 weeks I came back to a very damp flat and most clothes and bedding in the two bedrooms felt cold and damp and some had even gone mouldy so not risking that again. The second reason is that it's a start to the packing to move back home (but found out on Friday I'll be lucky to be home for xmas)

Re: A productive evening!
The surveyor for the repair company went to the house on Friday - the insurance company had told him that the house only needed a lick of paint so he needs to 'argue' with them that there is a lot more work required - this usually takes around 4 weeks to reach argeement - that takes us until the first week of November. Once agreement over the work to be done has been agreed he needs to find a 'team' to do the work etc etc and he said I would be very lucky to be in by Xmas.

Yes my annus horribulous aqua continues - good job I was born on the cusp of Aquarious and Pisces lol.
Wish I could get away for Xmas but will have to save my annual leave for the move back in (but only have to wait until the end of Jan before I have another 4 weeks off somewhere)
