Since lots of us have the ability to get out there and snap photos I'm posting a Wildlife photo challenge for 2016. Rules are simple - you just have to take the photo of an animal/bird/fish and post it.
This time next year if we can keep the thread going we can vote on the BEST photo in whatever categories we decide on. In the meantime I'm sure it'll just be interesting to SEE the different wildlife photos we can come up with.
I'm starting it off with a photo of a sparrow, granted taken today Dec 30th (but should be Dec 31st UK date/time) at my front yard bird feeder:
Am sure Grandad's trail camera is going to provide some really unique and interesting trail challenges
And we can modify this "Challenge" to anything we want i.e. if a month to month is easier we could do that and then compile the monthly winners at the end of the year too...
Yes it would be better to keep the timescale down to say a month, otherwise threads go on too long, so maybe a January, February, March etc. challenge.

I second that H. Also could you pin it to the top of the Hobbies and Pastimes forum and perhaps have a ruling that it is for pictures with brief description only but no discussion otherwise it might become very long and difficult to view the pictures in a sensible order.
I think if we just have a new thread each month to start with and see how it goes. From a comment point of view providing that people don't copy the original image each time when making a comment it should be OK as there is unlikely to be that many of us posting and to stop comments may take away some of the enjoyment for the poster in getting the views of others.
All sounds good to me so it can be a month by month and I do agree re: discussion and copying of photos from post to post. Was just thinking it would be nice to keep all our wildlife photos kinda kept in one spot as we're always taking them and putting them here there and everywhere in posts as we go.
So NEXT year we'll start with 2016 January WILDLIFE?
I'm gonna be out there with my camera and it IS my intent to get back out there with the camera now that I'm up and moving.
OK that's settled then, the first one to remember to do it can put up the monthly thread just so long as we all keep the title the same, so I suggest it should be "January 2016 Wildlife Challenge" followed by the next appropriate month.

ok I have a few pics of my grotties saved on this pc, in bog standard pictures file. they are standard and probably huge jpeg files. That's as technical as I am going to get, but give me instructions and I will pop them on
Dont get your knickers in a knot. It solves nothing and just makes you walk funny
Just make sure that your image is no bigger in size than 1280 pixels high by 960 pixels wide and is no larger file wise than 500 Kb. You can see this information if you hover your mouse over the image file, but if you need more help just holler
Mayday , so I thought I would open a new wildlife thread. Very quiet in April so let's hope with all the new births around the wildlife (or domestic animal) world we will find some great...

The fox definitely looked real healthy with a lovely coat.
Those dogs do look like big labradoodles but I'm not sure. They do have that wavy long coat though.
I will start this off with a hope that we have more to post on the subject this month. ;)

At my friends house they all come at the same time foxes and Badgers, usually with the fox nipping in and out taking stuff away with him, the Badgers all arrive together (usually three of them) and...
I will kick off the new months thread for our wildlife stories and pictures for March .

I've got lots of hostas going around here and other essentially low maintenance plants. I still have lots of garden to plant but have avoided annuals. Am hoping to get my colour out of the perennials...
January 2016 HAS arrived :) Took this out my back living room window. What is unique is that there are actually TWO hummers sitting on the feeder at the same time. They always buzz each other and try...

At least the month ended with a good TV program, Countryfile. This evenings was the best for a long time especially an account of a lady who, because she hatched the eggs, became 'mother' to a small...
