Took a break from all the landscaping yesterday and went for a walk downtown at one of the city parks that borders a marina. Tide was out and quite a few Canadian Geese were working the tide line. Seems their seagull neighbours were in the proximity but keep to themselves.
They were being a bit noisey so am thinking they were happily finding something.
Didn't have my good camera but the little one in my purse definitely comes in handy for walks.
The parks are bordered by wild roses which are some of my favourite flowers
These blue flowers are growing on biggish bushes and seem to thrive by the salt water. Am not sure what they are but they're quite common in this area. Will have to start asking their name although am sure if I look hard enough I'll find them in one of the local nurseries. They seem to grow where they'd get salt spray and they are definitely not burned or seemingly bothered by it (the salt in the water).
Nice piccies Unusual colour for a wild rose as they are not usually that red, but maybe your varieties are a bit different to ours which tend to be white or pinkish. You can always check by looking at the number of leaves, 7 on a 'Dog Rose' and only 5 on an escaped cultivar.
Ohh yes - I knew that 5 and 7 rule and totally forgot all about it. Didn't even look at the leave or count the number of little leaflets. I think these are wild roses that have been 'tamed' down and hybridized into being more garden amenable. These were all growing on a bank beside a trail and my suspicion is they'd been planted vs naturalized there.
Nice marina and nice piccies LLL.
We also have many Canada geese but they have not migrated from Canada. Originally maybe but over time they have arrived via Siberia, northern Europe and western Europe. Ours either stay here or just move around western Europe.
When I saw your rose I thought, dog rose, but I don't have the benefit of the 5 or 7 distinction.....green fingered I am not
Have never been sure if our Canadian Geese are truly Canadian. They tend to migrate but also have no problem dropping the migration and opting to stay wherever they happen to find an easy meal. They should be printed with a warning on their wings or backs saying 'feed me and I'll become the guest who just happily overstays my welcome.'
Interesting to me is that if they don't find an easy meal they DO migrate but seems they'll readily lose this habit while other birds migrate come h*ll or high water. Hummingbirds do a phenomenal migration and just do not hang about hummingbird feeders or the like. Scoring an easy meal doesn't seem to be their real interest. Same with swans. They seem more intent on migrating than hanging about for a hand out.

I think I would be inclined to behave exactly as that operator did
My daughter and I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 bill.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25c.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes...
