First day of Islamic Eid Al-Fitr holiday will fall on Sunday, according to officials from Egypt's National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics
Hatem Oda, head of Egypt's National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), has declared that Saturday will be the last day of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, meaning that the first day of the Eid Al-Fitr holiday will fall on Sunday.
According to Islamic tradition, the Eid begins when the new moon can be spotted with the naked eye, indicating the end of the Islamic month of Ramadan, which is either 29 or 30 days long.
Ramadan this year is 30 days long, according to the NRIAG.

Customs, traditions and rituals can bring great comfort to many but I've never been able to rationalize how not drinking in 120 degree heat (or even any heat) in daylight hours is making one more pious.
