Minister of Interior Mohamed Ibrahim reveals that a large number of changes within the police force will be announced in a press conference Sunday.
The transfers and promotions are announced annually, and this year there are expected to be many among police chiefs and officers.
The press conference is expected to be held at the interior ministry at 2:00pm.
These changes come a day after Ibrahim met with President Mohamed Morsi on Saturday at the presidential palace, where a number of pressing security and traffic issues were discussed, as reported by presidential spokesman Yasser Ali. He added, however, that there was no discussion regarding his continuation in the upcoming cabinet.
Ibrahim is one of the interim ministers that may stay on in the new cabinet that Prime Minister Hisham Qandil is expected announce on Thursday.
On Saturday, Ibrahim stated that he had not yet received any notice from Qandil on this issue, although many speculate that he will keep his post.

Re: Egypt annual police force reshuffle
Lets hope that they get the police back on the streets in sufficient numbers to restore confidence that law and order is in force and that they take an even handed approach to justice and an end to brutality. The kind of police force you have is often a relection of your society as a whole, we in the UK have gone from very passive policing by unarmed officers to an almost paranoid surveilance society in a very few years, no doubt as a result of global unrest and terrorism. Unfortunately this allows certain elements within government to impose this more draconion type of policing in the name of homeland security, we must all remain vigilant that this does not go too far and restrict our freedoms.
