A few more musical choices

Post by Horus »

So it was a dull sort of day and I suppose it affects your mood, so I sat listening to a few old Simon & Garfunkel songs that as a rule, apart from the last one they usually don't get much air time. I have always liked the fact that they wrote little stories within their songs, so here are a few you may like to listen to again. :D

I particularly love "Sound of Silence." I liked their music as they had lyrics I could hear and understand. I think I always take lots of symbolizm from music.

Nice choices Horus, I too enjoy Simon and Garfunkel..

Shame Art gets the credit for writing "Bright Eyes" from the cartoon Watership Down.. It was actually Mike Batt of the Wombles fame who wrote it.. 8)
In the Tree by the Brook, there's a song bird who sings, Sometimes ALL of our thoughts are misgiven..

Ahhh, those were the days....when songs had more than one line repeated over and over again. ;)

Yes - I grew up with music that might have had a repeated chorus and then the song moved on to the next section. Much more interesting.

I have a personal theory that 'way back when' in the "days of the dinosaur" when I was a child "words" held more importance and we actually learned more words and to do things with more words than kids today. Even well before my time (as in like the time of Shakespeare) there were long long ballads that were memorized and repeated. My theory is that as we are moving through time our actual language abilities are decreasing. Somewhere I read or heard that there are schools here now that do not want to teach 'writing' anymore. Printing is the language of the keyboard hence to really know how to write is useless thus the move is to have it removed from the curriculum..........

I was so proud when I learned to write and was allowed to use a pen (and didn't have to print with my pencil) now ??? Guess now all we all need to do it type.......
