Dina el-Gowhary, a 15-year-old Egyptian Muslim-born girl who converted to Christianity, was subjected to an acid attack. Three weeks ago, as she left their hiding place to get some water, her jacket was set on fire.
Dina's father Maher el-Gowhary, who now goes by the name Peter Athanasius, converted to Christianity 35 years ago. Several Fatwa's were issued calling for the "spilling of his blood," supported by Islamic apostasy laws which call for the death of converts. The family frequently changes where they live to evade being killed, and friends supply them with food. "We cannot sleep, eat or go out in the street," he said.
Dina has written to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, appealing to his love for his recently-born granddaughter. "Do you accept that your granddaughter would live under the same conditions like mine? I have no home, I am always afraid when I go to church or even go out in the street, I have no friends and no education."
President Mubarak has not responded, however President Obama—who she also wrote—has. The el-Gowharys met with the US Committee on International Religious Freedom in Egypt, and have requested asylum in the United States. Athanasius said, "If the Egyptian nationality is the cause of my imprisonment within my home and being unable to move, then I do not want it." The Egyptian courts have refused his request to change the religious designation on his ID to Christian, and to list his Christian name of Peter Athanasius. Accourding to the Assyrian International News Agency, "the Court ruling said that the religious conversion of a Muslim is against Islamic Sharia law and poses a threat to the 'Public Order' in Egypt."

Everyone should have the freedom to choose their religious affilliation or lack thereof. When any group has to hold their members by death threats, one has to doubt the validity of that group.

Attack on Church
I would say that the attack on the Church in Alex which shocked all Egyptians is what is bringing both groups together in solidarity. The events in Tunisia may now have added to the awareness of their shared difficulties.
As this article states
I could provide dozens more examples of the persecution and, in many cases, “cleansing” of Christians in what we have come to call the Muslim world. If the situation were reversed, if such a war were being waged against Muslims, it would be the top story in every newspaper, the most urgent item at the U.N., the highest priority of all the big-league human-rights groups.

Anyhow, I thought the Christian philosophy was to turn the other cheek ! isn't that what J.C Taught them ?
That's right Jewel, that is how religion works..
You need to understand that the big 3 religions all came from the same place, over a period of time. Christianity is nothing like it used to be when it first started, nor is Judaism.
Religion has sod all to do with peace, it's all about control through fear and is a gross distortion of the truth, backed by Authority, because authority invented it.. get it ?
By design it is to set one man against another, just another form or racism.
shows how gullible humans are really, they should be ashamed, and are going to look pretty silly one day soon..
But, it will not matter in the end..

The title of this topic proves my point..
God is a myth, used for control through fear, as I said earlier. Authority invented it and have changed it for THEIR purpose through the years.
We look for ways to separate ourselves from each other instead of looking for the similarities that make us all one..
Human beings just have no idea who we really are anymore. We accept the version's that authority lays down through education and religion.
We evolved a few thousand years ago, possibly from Apes, but there's a missing link, never mind that..
The planet formed from a big bang and magically produced water and ideal conditions for us to live in over billions of years.
We rely on water and the sun. a delicate balance of both.
Time is linear.
Anything authority cant or wont explain is a "Phenomenon".
Or, you accept God made everything in 6 days.
Even Buddhism has distorted reincarnation into a threat when you think about it.
Why would Massey say ?
"They must find it hard, those who have for so long accepted Authority for Truth, to accept TRUTH as the Authority"
He is saying, neither accepted version of life is correct ! He knew it after being in Egypt..
Florence Nightingale stated in her book that.
Those who have visited Egypt with symbolistic eyes, will never see the world in the same way again.
ALL the clues are in Egypt, spread down the Nile, and out into the desert..
It's just a matter of decyphering them correctly, and thinking for ourselves..
We are so much better than this...really !!
