Canterbury Festival 19 Oct - 2 Nov

Post by Grandad »

I have my views about the growth of four universities in this small city during the recent 50 or so years, and the influx of nearly 30,000 students. However there have been some plusses with new activities in the city.
I don't remember there being a Canterbury Festival in the past but now there is an annual event at this time of the year. It is an Arts Festival with exhibitions, music, performances on campus, talks and lectures.
It kicked off this morning with a low key parade through the main street by school groups representing different themes and a few school percussion bands.
It was led by my neighbour, The Lord Mayor, so I went along for a few snaps.
If I go to any events I will tell about them here during the coming 2 weeks.

Lovely colourful photos :) I see by blue skies they had a nice day for their parade.

If my memory serves me right I'm sure you have told us about the Norman Westgate before.

That's true Kiya but I just included the picture because there is usually the union flag flying there. ;)
