Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Post by LovelyLadyLux »

Am really not too sure what I'm seeing so am going to present the pieces and see if anybody else sees or thinks what I am.

I am in a condo pretty much in a residential suburb between Puerto Vallarta & Nuevo Vallarta. I'm eating 3 meals a day in the same restaurant facing the beach and water. Not too much action on the beach as I'm kinda at the end of the road and way in the distance I can see fishing boats going out, cruise ships arriving - but it is all in the distance.

Earlier on I posted a photo of this guy commenting on how mundane his job must be sitting on a beach every day occasionally flying a parachute on the beach advertising a small restaurant that is on the absolute other side of the largest bay in the world.

About 3 times a week cruise ships arrive. This one came in today

10009

Now this is maybe a real coincidence and this is where my mind starts going. Each day a cruise ship arrives so does this old boat dragging this torpedo tube however all he does for the entire day is anchors about 200' off shore and sit there. I've never ever seen him move, give anybody a ride or do much of anything except sit there.

In the morning as I'm eating breakfast two seadoos arrive and one gets anchored close to the boat & torpedo thing. The riders leave.

I watch this in the morning, at 10am tea and then at lunch but everybody is always cleared out by 6pm-ish or so.

It is also interesting to note that although nobody is ON the beach there is lots of touts walking up and down selling such mundane items as a board of sunglasses, a board of bracelets with peoples names on them, box of cigars, case of jewelry - all HOT selling items (not). I have no idea where they're walking to or what they're doing but they're walking up and down daily.

Anyway today as I'm eating lunch suddenly the parachute guy gets up and starts flying the parachute in circles and I watched him drag his legs up the wet sand in two long lines before collapsing it onto the sand. Seadoo arrives, gives something to the guy in the boat and leaves.

I realize I'm being a bit cryptic but after a couple weeks here I'm seeing this pattern of lots of walking up and down this beach (not crowds of people but about 10 guys going up and down and back and forth ostensibly 'selling' items, endless sitting on the part of parachute guy 'til he suddenly springs into action, rapid arrivals out on the water and then everybody back to endless pointless sitting.

What all does this make you think?

Waaaay ahead of you by the time the seadoos arrived! Have you started to write the script yet? 8)

Seriously, why not? The itinerant sellers who don't, could be security lookouts. I wonder if any were about while the action was taking place? :tk

Drugs.....possibly ;)

Just found this online............Puerto Vallarta is in the state of Jalisco which is the home of the Jalisco drug cartel.

The Jalisco New Generation Cartel is a Mexican criminal group based in Jalisco and headed by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, one of Mexico's most-wanted drug lords. Wikipedia

There are two types of residents here the long timers (most quite elderly) who own their own condo and then the ones who rent. Most everybody now who rents here (like me) stays 1 - 2 weeks. If you're staying short term you're hardly aware of everything let alone patterns.

I think this is the 3 (or maybe 4th) time I've come here and this isn't the first time I've seen this. This is just the first time it suddenly dawned on me what I'm seeing.

This resort is also at the end of the beach (behind the cruise ship IS Puerto Vallarta) and TONS, literally TONS of tourists and in that area lots of people being pulled around on torpedos, flying high in the air or parachutes, heading out fishing etc. Lots of busy water stuff - but HERE?

I saw this guy out in the boat right after I got here and he was there all day doing NOTHING as I went in and out the restaurant. Did cross my mind "What is he doing just sitting here?" cause even if anybody wanted to ride the torpedo thing you can't get to it and the bobbing skidoo is also sitting there just sitting and sitting and sitting. Same with the parachute guy. He mostly just sits there all day long and then every once in a while will get up and fly it. Sometimes straight up but I've also notice him fly it in a circle pattern and sometimes he'll walk backwards to the water and then let it drag him (whilst he is leaving two long tunnel marks made by him dragging his feet in the sand)

All during the day these older individual guys go walking (not in bunches or crowds) up and down the beach slowly selling 'sunglasses' on a board? Or my special favorite is the guy with all the name bracelets on a board. They are all wearing the same 'white' uniforms of all the beach sellers, they all have backpacks slung over their shoulders. I've never seen anybody out there buy anything from these beach walkers and if they had to rely on the few tourists that do go out and sun on the beach they'd all be starving.

It all kinda came together when I figured in the arrival of the cruise ships cause the boat and skidoo out front are not out there everyday just the day(s) cruise ships arrive and they sit and bob on the waves basically early morning but always gone by dark.

All very interesting......very interesting indeed.

@Hurghadapat...I never thought to Google drug cartels in this area burgers you found one.

Just finished breakfast. No cruise ship in sight so no little boat or Seadoo either. Parachute guy not there yet either but probably soon as he is there every single day.

Putting the overlay of the "D trade" onto the comings and goings of this super mundane stretch of beach sure explains lots of what I am seeing.
