Usual grey and wet here in Cardiff. It gets bleak, and most of the time about 4C lower than London, but not a cold as mid-Kent in winter. When I lived there we were snowed in many times, as it seems to catch the tail end of those winds swirling round northern Europe.
I check the weather every day here, London, Ibiza and Luxor just to know how it is for my nearest and dearest.
Luxor at night is often the same as here at night in the depths of their few weeks of winter, but of course have our summer temps in the day. It feels a raw cold in Luxor, (not helped by the single brick modern houses) I've known many tourists in my day who went to bed in their jumpers and coats with a hot water bottle - the difference between night and day temps makes it worse.
We had the lightest of snow coverings BUT that was enough for a road a few hundred meters from me to feature on National news???
OMG we have some snow, the country will come to a standstill
It was much the same when we lived in Africa MD, during the winter months it was really cold once the sun went down, but lovely and warm during the day. I could scrape ice off my car at 6 am and be sweating cobbs by 11 am, we often lit a fire at night. Today is so cold that Annie does not even want to go out, so a foot up the bum was in order this morning and where I live the roads are quite steep, so it can be chaos with a bit of snow on them.
Way back when, I went over Wrotham Hill ( 771ft high) when the road cut through drifts that were as high as the top of the telegraph poles on either side. Only one lane, open with passing points every 100 yards or so. I was taking a goat to be mated actually. Just an everyday chore which no one thought was remarkable at the time. Looking back the work was tough as I worked singlehanded, but I really loved it.
I've told you before Grandad, we get 2 foot of snow and it doesn't even get a mention, but get 10mm down South and they report it on the news as the new ice age load of Southern Jessies
I'll never understand why some complain about the weather these days, it's nothing like we used to get when snow was all the way up your front door & our cars buried in it & not forgetting the icicles hanging from windows.
This is how it's looking today, snow gone but, by gum it's blowing a hooly out there, even the gulls are flying low
Photo taken through the window, I dare not to open

We had it much worse than in your photo, Grandad, so you got away lucky! The problem here was that it froze overnight too and walking was treacherous. Then we had another minor fall mid morning which hid the ice. However, an hour or so later, the sun was shining; blue skies and the snow was gone apart from some large lumps.
I listened to Teresa Mays speech yesterday outlining the Governments objectives when we leave the EU.
I thought it was a good speech with the 12 objectives clearly defined. I am happy that a Clean...
