TAKING A BREAK

As Egypt based forums I think both L4U and E4U have lost much of their interest, certainly for myself. We have not been to Egypt for two and a half years and probably unlikely to go again after 20 years of regular visits.
Our friendly little group on E4U also seems to have run out of steam so I have decided to take a break for a while and withdraw from the forum. I am telling you this to avoid any concern or emails about my well being. I shall look in occasionally but if you see me as 'logged in' it will more likely be Mrs G on her ipad.
So for now, take care and behave yourselves.

I hope health wise you & Mrs G are ok & if you have to go please as you say drop in by often

Enjoy your holiday away Grandad. I do understand what you're saying as we now rarely if ever talk about Egypt. I sometimes feel a tad guilty about this as this forum IS supposedly to discuss all things Egyptian but like yourself I haven't been to Egypt now of ages and there is nothing on my horizon that is going to bring me back anywhere to the Middle East in the near future (I value my head! )

We have dwindled to a tiny group with just a few of us stragglers who regularly talk.

I'm convinced WE entertain countless others who LOOK on here daily but never comment.

Check in from time to time! Will miss you when you're gone and will DEFINITELY MISS all your trips and photos of that lovely corner of the world you live in.

I see where you are coming from Grandad, this last week or so I have been feeling very tired both in body and mind and to be honest for all the effort we put in, very undervalued, We few have kept this forum together and have done so for quite a few years now, but regrettably little seems to change. We seem to have lots of visitors, but no input from them, so perhaps they just come for the games and are interested in nothing else. The Blue side is as bad, it also has very few contributors and other than the same old arguments and squabbles being rehashed it is very much the same, highly predictable, with the same people saying the same things on the same topics. The current situation in Egypt has resulted in most people writing it off as a holiday destination and other than those that have property or live there or have family there it now holds little interest for most other people. I suppose we all hoped it would settle down and get back to normal, but every day the place seems to get worse and I just cannot see things changing anytime soon.

I along with others have tried numerous topics to generate some interest, but little seems to attract much interest or if it does it tends to be short lived. So Grandad I fully understand your decision and would like to say that you will be missed, but I doubt if there will be many left on here to actually do that after a few more weeks have passed. I have enjoyed your pictures and stories and along with the others in our little band I have shared moments of great sadness with you my friends, along with times of great joy, so I wish you well as I wish everyone else on here the same and I will use this as an opportunity to thank you all for your friendship and past support.

I will not actually say goodbye to you all, but as the old saying goes “Old soldiers never die, they simply fade away” and maybe that is how this should end.

I too have enjoyed your posts, Grandad, and will certainly miss them and you. However, there is much truth in what both you and Horus have written. Over the years I have seen the demise of most of the forums I contributed to so if this one joins the list - so be it. We all have busy lives, don't we? Not actually 'Goodbye' but see you around!

No of course I understand, I'm surprised that you kept going so long, but we really did enjoy all your contributions.

Too right LLL. It is about a month since I last logged in and last evening I ended my sabatical and came in to see what you have all been up to. Looks as if it has been pretty quiet. I noticed that LLL reported that Kevininabydos was coming over to join E4U. Have not seen any posts from him yet, used to like his contributions on L4U. If you are looking in Kevin, are you still in Egypt or have you left now???

I have also seen a few other familiar names from L4U looking in but not posting except Robbo70, good to see you Robbo

Maybe with a few from the blue side we can get a bit more dialogue going but I have to warn them that much of our discussions here revolve around, holidays, photos, and current affairs. Egypt seldom gets a mention because non of us have been for a few years now.

But all are welcome and lets see some posts and new topics.....
