Re: New Word for the Day
Today the word is a Canadian colloquialism - SNIRT - but can apply to the UK as well.

A SNIRT is the lovely transitional piece between snow and dirt in early spring.

Re: New Word for the Day
Interesting one that LLL,
and if it's the same word then we would spell it as CODSWALLOP with an 'O' and it's still a quite widely used word in the UK, but that could be a load of rubbish

Re: New Word for the Day
Oppps - I misspelled my new word of the day and it IS CODSWALLOP. It is an O (and not an A)
To my knowledge and to my hearing it is a word that isn't used here at all nowadays.

Re: New Word for the Day
Oh it's used a lot here LLL. Our politicians are past masters at spouting a load of codswallop. But I thought it was an international form of 'political speak'. Talk for ages but actually say nothing of any meaning.
There is a School of Codswallop here at a place called Middle Wallop.
