Went to get the newspaper this morning at the local Londis 'corner shop'. It is not large being 2 small shop units converted into one mini market with Off License, General Provisions, Bakery, Pharmacy and Post Office. Standing at the Post Office counter I noticed a TV screen with 9 small pictures and then realised that this little shop has
9 CCTV cameras distributed across the ceiling producing excellent sharp colour pictures.
I believe they are a new installation having not noticed them before. But there hangs the truth, I read that in the UK there is a CCTV camera for every 32 people so we live with them and forget that they are there, recording our every move.....spooky
1984 and all that
Edit: Just seen a more recent estimate of around 5million cameras in the UK that would equate to about one for every 12 people.
