These take many memories back to me, my mam was always baking Butterfly Buns I topped with icing sugar & strawberry jam & a light dusting of icing sugar
I made to much icing sugar so what is left of yesterday's buns got a topping of icing sugar & sprinkled with mixed chocolate drops
Horus do you really know what you've started it aint doing any good for my waistline
Horus, I read earlier today your post saying about forgetting to put in your baking powder, I was about to reply but visitors came in at the time now I can't find it anyways nothing wasted afterall eh, by the sounds of it Mum & your family enjoyed it
Yes it didn't taste too bad Kiya it was just that one slice would keep you going all week
Those Butterfly Buns took me back as well, they always look delicious and delicate, just the job for afternoon tea on the lawn
Good idea to use up the extra icing, "waste not, want not" especially if it means more cakes!
My cooking task for yesterday was a chocolate cake so my g/daughter could help make the frosting for it today after school. Can't show you a photo though - it's nearly all gone!
My cooking task was to find my purse, put money in my pocket, walk down to the bakery and buy a deee-licious scone with cranberries! Am more than sure somebody really loved baking it! I definitely enjoyed eating it - especially the final touch of all the shaved almonds on top.
All these cakes have set me off into mega bake mode
I reckon a large Meat & Potatoe plate pie for a start, then maybe a Victoria Sponge with Apricot Jam and maybe even a Sultana or Mixed Fruit cake.
Semi disaster, I made a great pan load of mashed spuds (desiree , best for mashing) but didn't quite make enough pastry for the three pies I finished up making to use it all up.
So................. I rolled it out a bit on the thin side result was a bit of cracking on one crust which did go down and close up again as it cooled and another that burst it's seams in a couple of places around the edge because I had put so much filling in it
Oh dear! Horus was your eyes bigger than your belly could take
I didn't get any baking of sorts done over the weekend was around the garages with Roy Sat & Sun looking for a new car, he finally settled on the same type of car but a VXR....bigger engine more speed & more for me to worry about when he 's out & about with his friends
I don't know why I've always to go with him, does my son think I could talk more than him hoping for a discount well we got some off & a tank of petrol but I don't suppose the petrol will last long with this gutsy car.
