Harlem Shake in front of Muslim Brotherhood HQ in Cairo

Egyptians motivated by 'boredom' dance Harlem Shake in front of Islamist group's headquarters in Moqattam, Cairo.

Dozens of young men and women put on a public 'Harlem Shake' performance in front of the Muslim Brotherhood's national headquarters in Cairo's Moqattam district on Thursday.

The global dance craze started on 2 February when a group of Australian teens uploaded a 31-second clip of themselves dancing to Harlem Shake by electronic musician Baauer.

A two and a half minute YouTube video shows the young Egyptians dancing to different kinds of music, not just the Harlem Shake song.

Some of the dancers wore "V for Vendetta" Guy Fawkes masks.

The event was organised on Facebook and motivated by "boredom."

The Muslim Brotherhood and its political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), has been facing growing criticism since the second anniversary of the January 25 Revolution.

A number of FJP offices around the country have been attacked or torched by demonstrators in the past two months.

Recently, a number of activists organised a football tournament in front of the Brotherhood’s headquarters under the banner “glory to the martyrs."

Egypt's 'Pyramid Shake' dance fails to impress the police.

Egyptian police are likely not fans of the YouTube "Harlem Shake" craze after hundreds of people – and one camel – encountered resistance from police as they were trying to film their own version of the dance at the pyramids: the "Haram Shake."

The group's Facebook page says they were stopped short, but they actually did manage to upload a 30-second video.

The video starts off with one masked man doing pelvis thrusts with the pyramids (haram in Arabic) in the background and another man wearing a galabiya nonchalantly walking past with a camel.

With the weather warming up, one man felt he only needed to wear a bowtie and white shorts as he leads the camel into a backdrop of people in costumes doing the Harlem Shake with the pyramids in view.

Egyptian police arrest HARLEM SHAKE (CAIRO EDITION) Students

Egyptian police said Saturday they have arrested four students who filmed themselves publicly dancing in their underwear, as more people around the world emulate a viral dance craze called the "Harlem Shake."

The four pharmaceutical students shocked residents of a middle class Cairo neighbourhood when they removed most of their clothes and videotaped themselves performing the pelvis-thrusting dance, a police official said.

The hostile audience tried to assault the students, who are accused of committing "a scandalous act," the official added.

Egypt has strict public indecency laws.

Here in the USA a group of teens decided to do this en route to an athletic competition on Frontier Airlines while in flight. Put themselves on Utube and, as per the morning TV news they're now being investigated by the TSA.

I think this is brilliant :up the more people hold their leaders and religion up to ridicule, the more accountable they will have to be to the population at large when those in power realise that they are not beyond satire.
