@H :o :o :o - :o :o :o Careful with the bauble photos! :)

"COLOURS OF CHRISTMAS" Whatever the colours of Christmas are to you and/or are in your neck of the woods.

What you see in my photo is about the sum total of all my present Christmas decorations. As I was going through my boxes I realized many of my decorations must still be being stored in the USA and many of my really really good decorations were passed out to my daughters years ago.

It is interesting that many of our Christmas decorations became real keepsakes and were as I had an Aunt on my father's side who every year would send me a special Christmas ornament for the tree and then continued the tradition by sending my daughters a special handmade/painted Christmas ornament. They have their ornaments now to enjoy and mine were split as well.

Just realizing my tree is going to be fairly sparse this year so will have to get out there and on it and start accumulating some neato ornaments.

**********On another note I just HAD to BEAT Grandad to the punch by getting this topic out there before he did!!!

x8) x8) x8) x8) x8) SCORE LLL ONE!!!

Prompted by your picture I have just put up the tree and decorations, so I will need to recover for several hours, my baubles now hang from the tree and are illuminated with little lights.

At this time of year there is very little colour about once the leaves have dropped so this will be a difficult challenge, but we will see what we can come up with.

It IS pretty blah and bland here right now. Drab wet dripping green everywhere, dark browns - HOWEVER - we are coming into a festive season and I'm thinking that there is nothing like the fiery snap and crackle of a burning yule log, brightly lit Christmas tree, passionate reds of poinsettias - LOTS of COLOUR to snap away at ;)

That being said, I have something of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree this year. Didn't have any tree, saw a fake one (1m tall) on sale, white no less, and bought it. This store was also selling cheap, as in really cheap, coloured plastic balls so I bought 3 tubes. Plastic in the hands of the twins works well - this is my result......(except 80% of the balls were on the same two branches)

3286

These were the same decorations I had in my green glass bowl last night. Now they're on my poor wee pathetic looking tree however the twins were very convinced they had "worked hard" to decorate the tree this afternoon.

Ohhhhhh geez - another pic! SCORE 2 for LLL x;) x;) x:lol: x:lol: x:lol:

We are still arguing whether to get that pathetic artificial thing down from the loft. :( We will be elsewhere over Christmas but I suppose I must make an effort...Bah! Humbug! ;) ;)

Here are a couple for your thread LLL from my brief trip into town this morning.

The Sally Ann can always be relied on to bring a bit of seasonal cheer. They didn't pick a very good spot, background wise, and this is only half the bandsmen but all I could get in with my little compact.
3288

We have a Christmas market in a small square and this display caught my eye as I walked past.
3289

Ah well! I suppose I should get into the loft and see what ancient decs I can dust off for another year.

BTW, your tree looks OK to me.....the smaller it is, the quicker you can dispose of it after the event. :)))

x;) x;) x;)

Woo Hoo! TIED with Grandad TWO points for entries in the Colours of Christmas race however Grandad has a slight edge with a SUPER colourful 2nd entry!!

Official Score: LLL 2 x:) x:) x:) Grandad 2+

On another note that is interesting your Salvation Army has actually put out several members all playing instruments together. Our Salvation Army here IS out in full force but they tend to stand, jingling Christmas bells in their hand, beside a red kettle where people can drop $$ in. They typically position in front of the main stores. I'm not sure here I've ever seen them playing instruments.

Loved the display of Nutcrackers and Snow Globes. That shopkeeper has an eye for display. Nice photos Grandad.

I only had my little Fuji V10 Horus but it is so reliable when I don't want to carry the DSLR.
Did you notice the little extra tweak H? Although it was abright morning they were in the shade so I had to add a few 'sparkles' on the instruments. ;)

You are very sharp to recognise the little wooden figures as nut crackers LLL. :) I think they are rather cute and may have to go back to give the guy some trade. The Salvation Army always come out on special occasions with some of their bandsmen. I think there were 10 or 11 this morning and, as a bit of a brass band buff, I always enjoy their music. x:) x:)

I did not notice the sparkles either, so that shows how natural they look, well done.

Bringing a little colour this time, I wasn't intending to put up Xmas tree etc till later this year but then I thought why spoil a habit of the last 24 years, ever since Roy was born on the 9th we have always put our tree etc up on his birthday but this time I've kept it all to one corner.

I was trying to capture the colours of the led lights & star along with the fibre optics but with it all flashing off & on it was a bit difficult to get all no matter how many times I tried.

Lovely tree! Love the decorations at the base too (which have given me an idea for my own tree)........WONDERFUL Colours of Christmas Kya. I'm missing lights on my tree. It is pretty PLAIN this year but by next years I'll have started to collect more ornaments and will get some lights for it too so it won't be as bland.

Nice tradition for you and Roy x:) x:) x:)

It was my intention to head downtown today and see if I could get some Christmas shots but the weather has been awful. It was splopping wet snow drops and the rain just coming down by the bucketful. Hopefully tomorrow will be better weather-wise.

We did the annual visit today to youngest grandsons Nursery School Nativity. They are pre-school between the age of 2 and 4. Our little lad will be four in the new year and start infants school next September so this time he was promoted from a shepherd last year to Joseph this year.

It must take the group leaders many patient hours to teach them the songs and the routine. It only lasts about ten minutes or so but is so enchanting and innocent. Here is one of my pics.

A point please LLL.

Lovely picture Grandad, our curly headed one (a bit like the little girl top left) was an angel this year, but methinks her halo slips a bit at times
On Sunday she told me she was having an ipod for Christmas and when I queried this and said "only if you've been good" she replied "Oh no Grandad I am getting one because I put it at the very top of my list" "But that does not mean you will be getting one" I replied.
To which she said "I think I will Grandad because when I was talking to my mum about one, she looked suspicious"
So a warning to all you mums out there Don't Look Suspicious! ;)

My DiL posted a similar picture on Facebook with this caption:

"Louis (Joseph) smiling even though his relationship with Mary had reached a stage where they were no longer on speaking terms and minutes later they separated and went their separate ways. Mary has custody of the baby."

Which amused her friends and family on both sides of the channel. :) Hmmm! Just realised she didn't give the photographer credit.

Re. ipods and ipads Horus. My son has just purchased an ipad3 and when we went back to their place after the 'show' Louis was soon happily playing games and showing us things in 'His File' on it, and he is not yet four???
