WI, I've been to your homeland twice but unfortunately have only seen Western Australia - so far!
It's a wonderful and extremely beautiful country! I love it! One day I hope to go back and see more of it.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?
Thank you, RS, I can only agree! It's a long journey, but totally worth it, though I may be a tad biased.
WA is a great place, I have relatives on both sides of the famiy there and always enjoy visiting, esecially Perth. It's a massively big country so one should always allow plenty of time to explore it's contrasts. Hope you get to go Downunder again. :clap2: :-)

Sorry, I digressed a bit! Unintentional, I assure you all! WI, that sounds as though I need to get hold of that one!
I do like a good 'weepie' now and again.

Ahhh brilliant book! Soooo what do you think happened to her at the end...as people that I know who have read it are split.....did she die, or wake up?Winged Isis wrote:Just finished drying my tears after the wonderful "After You'd Gone" by Maggie O'Farrell.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?
And I've dried my tears after reading "I shall not Hate" by Dr Izzeldin Abuelaish.
A true story about his life in Palestine and the death of his eldest 3 children and niece in 2009 in Gaza. It is a heart wrenching story of such a senseless conflict and the doctors loss. Well written and informative...just don't read it in public as I did.

As I am always a glass-half-full gal, of course she woke up, and developed a relationship with his father!

Na, I thought she died. What a fab ending to split the reader eh? Very clever!Winged Isis wrote:As I am always a glass-half-full gal, of course she woke up, and developed a relationship with his father!

I read "I shall not Hate" by Dr Izzeldin Abuelaish several months ago, was fantastic story. That poor doctor has really lived through hell yet he is so positive. He is a very exceptional man.

I actually met him about a month or so back. He was a very gentle, humble man. I felt honoured to have been in his presence!LovelyLadyLux wrote:I read "I shall not Hate" by Dr Izzeldin Abuelaish several months ago, was fantastic story. @Lisak - wow! I would have loved to meet him myself. I really enjoyed his book. It was very enlightening and he told his story well. I can't imagine living in such circumstances. His poor mom was a really strong woman.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?
I'm a sucker for travel books and I've just started reading 'Mirrors of the Unseen' by Jason Elliot. It's an account of his various travels in Iran. At first, I found it a bit hard going because there didn't seem to be any or little human contact but it's just started to pick up and I'm enjoying it. The only criticism so far is that the photos in the book are in black and white, but his descriptions are extremely vividly coloured. Being into graphics and design, I would have like some colour plates. Still, there's always the internet!
