There's a lot to be said for white, LLL. Last year I took over the largest bedroom as my workroom which meant that my old workroom became my bedroom. Well, I love colour so I had the new bedroom painted all plain white! It's wonderful because I can really indulge in some 'in your face' quilts!

I don't 'call the tune' when it comes to decorating, I'm just the one who does the work
We are completely 'one colour' merchants when it comes to decorating, and with light shades to make the most of available light. We like the clean line of one colour throughout and then adding colour and interest with furnishings. I should add that we tend towards the minimal style with very few ornaments and photos around....just a few selected wall pictures and pieces of pottery and glass.

Oh Oh Keefy - us :mice: were playing and I swear I didn't push too many buttons or twist too many knobs.......I usually see you on Chat and when you were not there I thought I'd just explore behind the scenes
.........
I used to really like what I called "Victorian" which meant I had gobs of doilies (all hand crocheted by moi) and oodles of ornaments and OMG it took me forever to dust and keep clean. Finally got over that phase and mostly my walls are white to catch all the light I can. I really love lots of windows and bright light. I think that comes from all the dull grey days and me trying to get as much light as possible so I don't feel like a human Mole.
I always think about decorating like Kiya and adding some colour but I really have never had the courage to add the colour even if it is only a tinge.
And RubySlippers I agree that quilts would be best noted and seen in a lighter coloured room so as to fully appreciate the beauty of the quilts. Any chance you can take some photos of your quilts and show us on here? I personally look at quilts as a total art form. Takes so much talent and skills to create and make a quilt.

Horus, that is a lovely colour purple BUT it is a very odd picture- what is the image hiding on the right ? Wallpaper, yes, a distant memory - - This house has few walls and what there are, are mostly covered with photos, postcards, paintings and cobwebs - - -3 edits as my keys are sticking. I upset then prising them off with a knife to clean - and my current specs are rubbish .

I would, LLL, but I don't want to see the 'Egypt4U' sign on them!

@RS - I think that sign comes on all posted photos. Would definitely love to see your quilts and to hear about the different patterns you use - although - do you use patterns? or do you create your own freehand or picture quilts?
Quilting is such a wonderful art form. Even the stitching can be so decorative and lovely.

Sorry, LLL. I've only just seen this. I didn't mean to ignore your question.
Sometimes I use patterns and sometimes I'll just see something that sparks off an idea which I run with. I'm fairly new to quilting - nearly 6 years now - but it's an extremely expensive hobby and I would only advise anyone to start it if they were quite comfortably off, moneywise!
It quickly becomes an addiction. I'm just putting one quilt top together but already thinking ahead to the next one which has 20 colours in it and needs at least a metre of fabric for each colour. With fabrics costing from £10 a metre upwards in this country, this is going to be one expensive quilt!
That's without the wadding and backing - but I'm determined to have a go at it!
Fortunately, there is a quilt exhibition over here next month so I'm hoping to be able to get some of the fabrics there at a discount. Wish me luck!

Re: KING of the WORLD (or QUEEN of the site!!)
WOWWWW that IS very expensive for quilting fabrics. Where does most of the fabric coming into the UK come from? And are fabrics there readily available? Just curious.
When I'm in Trinidad it is like being in fabric heaven. There are fabric stores everywhere. Most of the people there who run the fabric business are Syrian. The fabrics are WONDERFUL and apparently even many clothing designers go there to stock up on fabrics that are super cheap compared to what is being paid here.
In this area we have really only one store 'Joannes Fabrics' that sells material. There used to be 3 or 4 different stores but in the last 10 yrs we're down to one.
