Re: Post any problems with the Forum in here please.
Keefy, I have noticed that the initial list of smilies on the left hand side usually take ages to display the 'roll over' name, but the 'View more Smilies' list usually shows up the roll overs straight away. Maybe this is why some people think that they do not have a roll over name because they are quite slow to load up? It seems as if each Smilie has a sub programme that retrieves some information and it is that info that is slow to load.

Re: Post any problems with the Forum in here please.
Not a problem Keefy but is it possible to increase the number of pics in a members album. As you know some of us post lots of pics and I am having to delete the oldest to make room for new ones.
On the subject of pics and colour, I DO find that the colour and definition is now far superior to the earlier design....have you done something sneaky there?

You should have at the moment, able to upload 500 photos to your personal album, and 250 photos in each section of the Gallery.

Re: Post any problems with the Forum in here please.
Sorry Keefy, I hadn't checked recently and was automatically deleting pictures to make room for new ones....didn't realise it had been increased....thanks for that.
There is definitely a big improvement in how pictures appear on screen now so whatever you did is working

Just been looking back at some old threads and I notice that none of my pictures are opening in my posts???? I know that they are still in my album....could that be something to do with the new way of importing images from album to post???

Yes grandad the link is smaller:
The old format was:
When ive got the forums working smoothly, I will go through and edit them, maybe Horus will do a few if he gets time, all we need now is the id number, which in the above case is 2018 the number just needs putting between the album codes like below.
Code: Select all
[album]1306[/album]
Code: Select all
[img]http://www.egypt4u.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=2018[/img]
Code: Select all
[album]2018[/album]

Re: Post any problems with the Forum in here please.
It might be, but ive think i might have found a solution, Well im hoping
I was thinking of closing down the forum in the early wee hours, dowwnloading the table in the database for the posts, then in a program called notepad++(cool free program) doing a find and replace, not sure if it will work but
Find:
[img]http://www.egypt4u.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=
and replace with
[Album]
Then after its done all them..
Find:
[/img]
and replace with [/Album]
Hopefully we will end up with all the correct numbers between the right tags, the only problem is that if someone has posted an image from another source the [/img] will be replaced by [/Album] then that image wont work, but I dont think they are too many of them.
Its the way I think, does it sound good

Re: Post any problems with the Forum in here please.
Kiya, I had to find out by trial and error but it is really simple.
You need to have uploaded your picture from your computer to your own or one of the other albums in the usual way. Only difference is that you can upload up to three images at once.
The file size is now much larger. These are the maximum dimensions. 500kb 1280 width 1024 height.
In your post, click on the green 'Gallery' button (right hand end above the text box) which will take you to the gallery. Navigate to the picture you want to import to your post. Click on 'Insert image in post' box on the picture you have chosen.
Back arrow to your post and the image number has already been added. Much easier than before.

That sounds like another problem, clicking the Green Gallery Button should fetch a popup window, once you have finished inserting photos from it, you would click the X of the popup window to get rid of it. same like when you get a popup window when you click view more smilies.Grandad wrote: Back arrow to your post and the image number has already been added. Re: Post any problems with the Forum in here please.
So much for bright idea's of mine the idea to replace [img]http://www.egypt4u.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id= with the album tag wont work each link as a random generated code after the [img] tag... so it look like its go through all the post and do it manually
Re: Post any problems with the Forum in here please.
Now I've gone on to the regular view it's great no problems at all, except the usual problem, that is not being able to copy photos from my iPad over to the forum in any way shape or form, but that is an iPad problem methinks and nothing to do with the forum. I'm sure if I was to do it on my laptop would be able to no problem, but just don't bother with laptop much these days, however will give it a go when I've time

Keefy still has a few bits to sort out yet, so I suppose he will be dealing with those as the new forum gets settled in.

Didn't want to mislead but didn't notice the X yesterday. That sounds like another problem, clicking the Green Gallery Button should fetch a popup window, once you have finished inserting photos from it, you would click the X of the popup window to get rid of it
BTW How do you do 'quotes' with user reference??? Never did get it before.

If you mean like this Grandad, then just use the 'Quote' button on the right below the persons post and it should open up a new reply window with all of their's and other inclusive posted quotes within that particular reply being added.Grandad wrote:Didn't want to mislead but didn't notice the X yesterday. That sounds like another problem, clicking the Green Gallery Button should fetch a popup window, once you have finished inserting photos from it, you would click the X of the popup window to get rid of it
