Message from Christine to All on E4U!!
Had a brief message from Christine who is presently basically living in the hospital. She asked that I pass on an update to all her friends on E4U.
Hubby had a heart attack and Christine has been full time in the hospital, at one point it was touch and go but he is now on the road to recovery. More tests will be happening this coming week and Christine will be able to give us all updates then.
Christine - am beaming you positive thoughts, prayers and well wishes from Canada. Take care of you while you are on vigil with the husband. Positive prayers, thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery.

OK five spare minutes so an up date, he is still in recovery, and its turns out he didnt have a heart attack at all, his potasium level raised to a level high enough to stop his legs working and then his heart !!
A medically induced coma and body cooling in ICU was the thing that eventually saved his life, after i had given CPR along with a wonderful paramedic.
He was then transfered to the renal unit who started him on longer dialysis to clean his system.
All in all a very stressful couple of weeks, but like i say he is on the mend, he ia now allowed to drive, and is pottering about at home, so im on his case again " will you sit down!! " etc.
Im also back at work now, so things are starting to get back to normal, if that word can ever be applied to my house !!

Well that is good to hear Chris and here's hoping hubby gets fully recovered.
But, as a former heart attack patient, I am intrigued about the high potassium level, is that a common problem and do you know how one gets the condition......just asking for the benefit of my own longevity.
All the best

Potassium and renal........go figure! I'd of never thought there was an association.
Am so glad to hear that Alan is on the mend and getting out and about. It sure sounded like a bad scare for everybody. I don't know if it is good to say "thank heavens it wasn't a heart attack" (cause am sure the renal/potassium stuff is also mega serious) but will say "thank you to the great whomever that he is better and on the mend"

Thanks guys, it was very scarey indeed, we actually lost him back there for a few minutes, LLL the potassium problem arose because he dosent have a kidney to filter it like the rest of us, and obviously his dialysis wasnt completed well enough to keep his levels low enough not to be a threat, having said all of that , thanks for all the good wishes and positive thoughts youve sent to us
You get out of life what you are prepared to put in!
