Maybe it would have been better if he had met (or meets) the same fate as his father, I for one have no interest in him being trialled at the Haig, his family were responsible for exporting terrorism all over the world including the UK, so why should I be concerned over his fate?

Saif Islam Captured
So the last link in the Gaddafi family has been apprehended, so will that be an end to the troubles in Libya and can it finally get on with whatever passes as democracy in the country, or will we have a show trial that creates more division and tension within the Libyan people?

Can't say I'd disagree H. I'd hate to see this become another international media circus.
What I don't get, unless one wants to go with "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree notion" is that Saif is a well education man. He has been exposd to much of the world. I guess I think that Saif should have known better than to follow in his father's footsteps. There was a time when I actually thought that Saif 'might/could/should/would' bring reforms to his father's regieme but then he talked about "blood running in the streets.'
Moamar was crazy by any standard. Not sure the mind was 'in' the proverbial body however Saif was an articulate 'thinking' man. I was always optimistic that once 'dad' passed and/or became so debilitated in his thinking that Saif would just take control make decisions (maybe allow dad to walk around in his robes and be a figurehead) and change the direction of the country.........BUT
guess I was wrong.
Everything now just needs to end. No more media hype re: "now we got Saif and he's heading to the Haig." It all just needs to end, stop and let the country heal and take charge of their own affairs.

I think there is a long way to go LLL before we see any kind of democracy in Libya. How far has Egypt got in the last 9 months? Nowhere yet I suggest! And even yesterday there were demonstrations in Tahir Square to end the military rule....stop and let the country heal and take charge of their own affairs.
You are correct that Saif is an educated man having studied at the LSE; and I am sure that like the sons of Saddam Hussein, he too has blood on his hands. I am inclined to support any proposal for him to be 'tried' in Libya and not The Hague. Any trial there (The Hague) would go on for ages if not years and the outcome would be the same......

Exactly
if justice of whatever kind is seen to be done, then it must be swift and decisive. As Grandad has commented, Egypt has not really moved on much in the last year. I do find it strange that they are so far behind the other Arab countries that have had a revolution, possibly because Egypt's was not a true revolution in the sense that most people understand it, more a sideways shift of power.

Could be he is being given another identity and will go under gov't protection and we'll never hear of or see him again. I actually do not like this about our news media. They're forever jumping on New stories and I get that but there is never really closure on a hot story. The story just ends. It is sometimes like reading a book to the middle, slamming it shut and throwing it away - you never gain knowledge of the end.

Re: Saif Islam Captured
Few months ago couldn't turn the TV on for seeing Libya and getting a blast of the latest. Now it is like Libya never existed. Don't hear a word at all about how things are playing out for Ghaddafi's son or the country. Guess 'no news' doesn't really sell

Similar to Egypt, I reckon that the trial etc. have just dragged on without any media coverage from the court and that people have lost interest, maybe thats a good thing, maybe it takes them out off the worlds eye, or maybe just good tactics by the ruling cabal.
