Fantastic photos! LOVE cheese too!

Did the bride and groom 'cut' the cheese at the wedding together? :)))

(I apologize but I couldn't help it!)

Yes it was a very joyus ocassion not only because of the wedding but it was the first time I had seen my sister, BIL and the 5 children all together in one place at the same time for a few years. We all thought there would be a 'cake' cutting but there wasn't which was a pity.

Image

Each table had one of these birdcages in the middle filled with fresh flowers - caused a bit of a 'to do' at the end of the evening - a couple of guests tried to walk off with them - they were soon stopped by my sister - she might be small in height but no one gets away from her -- my sister had decorated them herself - she also made all the bunting.

Image

Each place had their own picnic bag filled with, well, picnic food which included my sister's homemade chutney - there was plenty of other food provided too.

Image

Only two pictures of the venue at night I need to stitch the panorama of the front together.

Yes she is H - takes after our mum and grandmum but I think bringing up 5 children in Kenya for 20 years without all the imports from the west had something to do with it. She also did well with the kids - 2 doctors, civil engineer a trainee doctor and for the time being a trainee teacher (but he's likely to change tack again !!!)

The next instalment of my epic adventure into Yorkshire keeps us at the wedding venue - Newburgh Priory.

Newburgh Priory

A Priory of the Augustinian Order was founded in 1145 through an original grant of the Newburgh lands by William the Conqueror to Robert de Mowbray. It was his son Roger de Mowbray, who established the Priory in one of the most delightful settings that can be found in this country. Little is known of the Priory from its founding until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538 by Henry VIII, but since that time Newburgh has benefited by being within the ownership of one family. Although in the same family the family name has changed over the years – started with the

Bellasis – Fauconberg (Baron and Viscount) – and now Wombwell the current Baron – nice chap but I thought he was with the catering company when I handed him the bunting – did wonder why he had his grand daughter with him. If you return to the windows of Coxwold church you will see these names mentioned. The priory is open to the public Weds and Suns during April, May and June.
Two of the monasteries that were dissolved will be covered later.
Sorry there are no interior pics or detailed pics of the exterior – hopefully the SD card with those on are at home.
