There may be troubles ahead

Egypt has both Christian and Moslem communities and the politics of the Middle East are equally diverse. Air your views on the situation.

Or so it would appear :?

http://www.israeltoday.co.il/NewsItem/t ... fault.aspx

Over the weekend, Cairo’s Tahrir Square again filled with angry demonstrators who are still waiting for their full list of demands to be met. Among them was the Muslim Brotherhood, which last week officially announced its intention to take part, as a group, in renewed anti-government protests.
As the demonstration turned increasingly hostile, Egyptian soldiers opened fire, reportedly killing two demonstrators and wounding another 15, according to Cairo hospital officials. The army denied firing live ammunition at the crowd.
Not content with protesting their own new government, the demonstrators also marched on the Israeli embassy in Cairo. Gathered at the gates of the Israeli mission, the angry mob demanded that Egypt cut all ties to the Jewish state and stop supplying Israel with natural gas. They also wanted the Israeli flag flying atop the embassy to be removed.

As we are all suffering one way or another from a world wide recession this dosent suprise me at all.
The thing that does is the stupidity of the young, it was the young in Tunisia, the youth of Egypt and now Spain and Portugals youth have taken to the streets, if they are educated well enough to do this, why could they not see how thier countries had been heading .
Where exactly are they expecting money and new jobs to come from i wonder .

That is true but in a way it is what they have inherited.......all I hope is that they will see the light as to the way forward for this ravaged planet of ours and cease reproducing.....you may think this harsh but with the human population having reached epidemic proportions and caused the current crisis it is the only way forward and even then it may be too late already....

Agree 99% - we need a few oiks to look after us when we are old.

Now this may seem even harsher - but we should withdraw aid - what's the point of saving a child from starvation this year and having to do the same for the same child next year the following year etc not because of another drought but because the child mortality rate has decreased without a corresponding decrease in the birth rate - end result more mouths to feed.

It certainly is a vicious circle Brian :) We should insist upon some sort of program to limit population growth as a condition of giving regular aid. OK I am not saying aid given for a disaster relief, but rather the long term aid that we keep pouring into these countries with little to show for it. :(

I was thinking more on the lines of a billy goat for the vasectomies and a nanny goat for sterillisation for those that already have children and $100 if they don't already have kids.

I don't often come to the Green side, but it seems to be getting more and more like the Daily Mail everyday! The bigotry shown here amazes, and partially disgusts me.

Although I had my own understanding of bigotry I decided to search the web for a definition of a bigot and came across the following

The term bigot means to be willingly ignorant or intolerant of another person's beliefs or opinions.

Bigotry is an accusation, which is often used by liberal and marxist types to condemn those people who are not of the same "tolerant" or "open minded" attitude as themselves.

By using this term they create what I call an infinite loop of intolerance.

If someone is accused of bigotry then the accusing party must also be intolerant of the accused persons intolerance; therefore, it is self evident that the term bigot in a sense, can not actually exist in a free society or open debate because of it's self-destructive, self-imploding and hypocritical nature.
"We must put an end to bigotry by criminalizing any dissenting point of view."

Real life application of this "anti-bigotry" includes hate laws, which are no more than Orwellian type "thought crimes".

BB - I couldn't have said it better myself re: Bigots and bigotry.

All of us, anyone, can be more or less passionate about any topic AND whilst we all do not have to 'agree' with everything I do uphold that everybody has the right to their own believes, opinions etc and while I might disagree I would hope that in my disagreement I would not diminish or minimize you are a person. I do try not to make personal attacks.

I'm also aware this can happen from time to time but when pointed out should be acknowledged and corrected.

Stan - I'd invite you to stroll over here more often. Wish you would. You do make many valid and valuable points but my good man don't you realize that making blanket statements implying we're all bigots is just plain uneducated, ridiculously poor taste that reflects back on you in a very poor light and will degrade future communications you might make?

But of course Stan could have posted just to get a reaction or discussion going and doesn't really believe we are all bigots on the green side. :)

I wish that were the case Brian :) However when Stan gets bored or ignored he reverts to his usual cries of 'racist' 'bigot' 'ill informed' or any other epithet he can use to try and denigrate the persons making the post. No doubt with all the competition over on the Blue side for most intolerant member he is coming up against some stiff opposition, so he decided to annoy us over on the green side. I moved over here to escape the intolerance of people who wish to censor the views of others and demean them at any opportunity and so far we have kept this place fairly tolerant and tried to remain friendly towards each other, I just wonder why you bothered to post your negativity on this forum? 8)

Methinks Stan only came over here cause it was stirring up on the 'other' side and he wanted to thrown down a load then beat a hasty retreat.

I welcome his and anyone elses 'insights' and 'opinions' but not personal insults and personal attacks.

Relish a good old 'to and fro' of thoughts, ideas, opinions....But the country I hail from, size of my feet, colour of my eyes, hair and circumference of my waist etc etc etc should not be part of attempts to "WIN" the banter.
