Post by DJKeefy »

Ive been using this program for over 3 months now and not had 1 virus since using it, it scans each website quickly too, it might take a few nano seconds more for a page to load, but hey ive been virus free :)

Tried Avg, McAfee and a few others and still a few virus got through the net :(

Free 30 day trial here:- http://www.kaspersky.com/

Hi, K!

Have you tried PC Tools Anti-Virus?
It scans and updates daily, automatically,
and IT IS FREE.

Kaspersky is good, but I think it ultimately costs - PCTools is absolutely free.

best,
Scott

I think that they all fail at some point, I dumped the expensive Norton and have been using the Free AVG with great success, but after a year or so I am starting to see a few bits sneaking through. I think that since they started to push everyone towards the improved pay for version, the free AVG has gone downhill. The answer seems to be, keep switching to the latest free ware on offer, it is usually the best.

I have been using AVG for about a year now but as Horus says I suspect some things does get through it because I have had a few issues of late.I tried downloading the Kaspersky trial version but it always fails on the download :(
I'll have a look at the PC Tools one.

A-Ha! A technical conversation for me to invade!

I've had the AVG one for over two years - but ever since the last major upgrade it really does seem to have slipped and I've been trying to decide what to do about it. The scan seems to have got even slower - so setting it running just lately is a chore that I keep putting off - and I'm certain that some bits and bobs it isn't picking up.

So what shall I do?!?! My plan is to wait and let you braniacs test it out and then tell me what to do!

HI, Goddess,

Just a small thought - have you run a disk defrag recently? If it is in bad shape it can slow thing up a lot. Just a thought.

Best to all,
Scott

I do a disk defrag quite often, I just find it saves me time in the long run if I do it once a month or every other month. It can be pure torture if I leave it too long - it once took about 8 hours!

My compooter struggles at the best of times - so I do everything I can to keep it as dejunked as possible. My Crud Cleaner works once a month, scans every week, defrag once a month and a registry clean by the crud cleaner once a month.
My little Pooter is just a slow poke - and I've come to accept it's little foibles as amusing.
9 hours to do a scan was just beyond laughing though.

My laptop has decided over the weekend to have a slow down and even sleep ~ how dare it! I spent 5 hours online with Norton last night trying to uninstall Norton 360 and reinstall it as it was that causing the problem!!
Hopefully tongiht when I get home it will be perky once again
A day without laughter is a day wasted  ;)
