There is a group of ex pats interested in starting up an Organic Convivium Delivery Service for the Cairo area at present.
They are trying to gauge the level of interest and are asking interested people to contact them with what they would be like to be grown, included in the deliveries.

All of the produce will come from the seasonal crops grown by small organic farmers in the Fayoum area, with necessary certification. They hope in the future to include beauty products and honeys, meats, poultry, cheeses, medicinal products and other foods but for the time being they are collating interest for fresh organic fruits and veggies.

It should be up and running in the next few weeks.

In many parts of Italy, food is already organic without certification. I have a huge problem with certification of organic foods. They become huge, pushy, rich lobbies. Furthermore, you start to get junk food that is organic - eg. organic corn syrup. It's definitely an ex-pat dream.
