How are you keeping one and all?

I am concerned about the members of this forum please give us an update on how you are doing.
As my daughter brought me here to Ibiza 2 weeks ago (fortuitously arranged well in advance) I'm in a very happy situation though in Lockdown.
When I was in Cardiff I rarely went out or spoke to anyone so lockdown was pretty normal.
Now I am with half my family and dogs. Already moving better without daily rain in fact I can water the garden. We live up in the hills in the countryside so don't normally see people.
My grandson is going to want the Internet in a minute as his school has organised lessons online.
I am aware of how fortunate I am, but feel helpless in not supporting others who may not be so lucky - except by keeping out of their way.
God bless you all and keep you safe.

I'm ok and like you quite used to being on my own and have a large garden which I do enjoy looking after, lawn in desperate need of cutting but at moment still to wet to do.Have plenty of food in fridge ,freezer and cupboards and just ordered some wine from Aldi who do a free delivery.....if alcohol kills it on hands then surely consuming it must have the same effect (in theory).Pleased to hear that you are enjoying your new life in Ibiza and must be lovely to be with daughter and her family and lockdown must be so much easier in a sunny place, but having said that if I had to go into lockdown when I was living in Egypt Think I would have gone stir crazy. You take care and enjoy your new life x

Thanks for replying Pat and glad to hear you are ok.
There's hard lockdown here I had to go to the dentist for an extraction yesterday in Ibiza city. We took our residency papers with us but were not stopped on the way there and very little traffic.
Coming home they were stopping everyone at the roundabouts. Making sure everyone had gloves and at least a scarf to cover their nose and mouth.Very few cars had more than the driver as there has to be a very good reason . The city was almost completely empty - the two beggars in the main square have a poor outlook.
Penalties for breaking the rules are heavy.

We're doing ok here on the Island although the Covid-19 is here. All schools are closed 'til further notice, most restaurants and retailers are closed or closing too. The big grocery stores were basically shopped out within the first couple of days but seem to be re-stocking now. The Gov't made a major announcement today - lots of financial dollars put forward for people, Border between here and the USA closed except for essential travel which they're basically defining as goods, NO tourists. Don't know anybody that is sick although I swear I had this virus pre-Christmas. Wish I could be tested to see if I actually have antibodies. We have extremely few testing kits available here so even if you get sick you can only get to a Dr now by appointment.

Here in Ibiza all hotels are being closed and all "tourists" returned to country of origin. I'm concerned about people who have been living "under the radar" for years barely scraping a living. I know several who haven't bothered to apply for residency. Thank goodness I got mine last year but have been in UK since then.
A member of a local online group managed to praise the police for their Gestapo-like tactics and got a lot of flack for it.
Managed finally to contact my DH and Luxor family at last. Two doctors in the family so right in the front line. One described most patients as terrified even though showing no symptoms. So far, so good. God bless everyone.xxx

I only became aware of CV a couple of weeks ago - in fact, not until I was allowed home from hospital! I don't remember much about the first few weeks I was in there though. Anyway, here I sits home again and happy to be making good progress. My voice started to come back last week which helps enormously, and DH is right on top of things. He had a crash course in using the washing machine, and I'm still not sure he knows how to turn the vacuum cleaner on, although he swears he hoovered the floor, but the cooker is still mystifying him! He toddles off shopping every morning and refuses to get fussed over anything. Totally unflappable and ignoring the situation as much as possible. I do worry for him though but.......!
I'm glad to hear that you are all doing well. We're getting reports of nice happenings and not so nice happenings here. One nice thing is that all of our supermarkets are opening earlier just for the elderly to shop, and all the National Trust properties are open to the public free of charge and no parking fees either. The houses, cafes and restaurants are closed of course, but it's nice to know that you can escape the 'lockdown' for a couple of hours and actually smell the flowers! Well, if you are going 'stir crazy' any port in a storm!

Good to see you are all keeping OK. Glad you got to Ibiza before the restrictions MD. Sorry you have been in hospital RS but glad you are home. Looks like you were right Kiya.
France has just extended its Lockdown until Apr 15th but apart from missing socialising we are keeping well and getting lots of jobs done around the flat and garden. Luckily the weather has been perfect and we are still allowed out for walks once a day for an hour.
Luckily no panic buying, I went shopping yesterday and apart from a reduction in the choice of goods in the freezers e.g. only 1 type of frozen mushrooms instead of the usual 5 or 6 different mixes with girolles etc there were no shortages. Shops very empty of customers, I went about 10ish & everybody observing the 2 M spacing, not difficult when about 10 in Lidl & about 20 in the other supermarket! All 2M spacing marked out before the checkouts & perspex screens up.
I really envy you your foxes Grandad, I still miss ours but they would not have been there now anyway as the fields which used to back on to our garden have now been turned into a housing estate. Glad we left when we did! Hope you get some footage of your new family.
Stay safe and well everybody
