Our Beaches

In the past I've posted about how cluttered with logs, driftwood and bark our beaches are and how it is now illegal for us to remove any of it.

Hence we're now getting this happening

Can't say any of the wood has been removed and it also feeds the local lore that we do have Big Foot or Sasquatch running around here.

Just need a few totem pole carvers to set up some poles along the beach, maybe with a hand doing a 'V' sign at the top.

There is a fellow who makes these and calls himself "Drifted Creations." His stash of driftwood on the beaches is limitless so am sure he can let his creative imagination go.

Some of is other creations that ARE becoming a major tourist destination on the Island.

And yesterday I saw this. He is actually offering classes ($131.00 for a 4 to 5 hour class). I'd be there in a heartbeat (although I'm not overly sure I can "see" dimensionally as he does) except his classes are offered on one of the out Islands meaning I'd have to drive north and then take another Ferry over to one of the smaller coastal Islands for the class.

Those are fantastic LLL, it takes special sort of talent to be able to see a piece of drift wood and then to use it as a part of a creation you only have in your minds eye. They are really interesting and I think unique, thanks for posting.

I always find it fascinating that some people can just SEE things in random objects. I really don't have the skill to do that. Wish I did.

They really are impressive LLL. I rarely see any driftwood on our beaches. There must be some because one or two of the art huts at the harbour have small creations but nothing like the size that you have.
As others have said, you have to have a vision in your minds eye

@Ruby Slippers IF this class was closer I would. It is actually being taught up north and then over onto one of the smaller out Islands so it actually would be pretty hard for me to get to. I used to live there but no longer however I know how difficult he is to reach.

His statues though are definitely creating a tourist destination now and photos of his works are being featured in magazines and he has now made enough of these to make the trip to see them worthwhile. Am thinking of figuring out where they all are and then doing a trip with the crew next summer
