Having just watched the last hour of the celebrations in London to commemorate the centenery of the RAF, I am reminded of other significant anniversaries this year.

It is 100 years since women in Britain got the vote (and then only if aged 30 or more)

On Armistice Day 11 November it will be 100 years from the ending of WWI.

Can you think of any other anniversaries this year. Your birthdays don't count

Tsar Nicholas II and his family (The Romanovs) were murdered at the end of revolution in Russia. His first cousin was King George V and they were so alike that they could have passed as twins.

Don't know why this came to me - well I do the twins were asking about World Wars again - isn't 2018 when WWI ended? So it ended 100 years ago this year come November.

Another anniversary for 2018, they keep popping up, this time the 200th anniversary of the birth of Emily Bronte. She just wrote the one nopvel, Wuthering Heights, died at 30 but is acclaimed worldwide with 'pilgrims' compelled to visit her home, The Parsonage, at Haworth in Yorkshire.
This is the Parsonage and church grabeyard from my own visit about 25 years ago

Very pretty place is Haworth! Especially the Main Street which is very steep and cobbled! Looks just like the old Hovis advert. :)

PS. The Hovis advert was filmed in Shaftesbury, Dorset.

We had a supplier at Keighley and I always stayed at The Old Red Lion Hotel right at the top of the street. Lovely little village.
