I hate football but must admit I was very sorry to see that Egypt lost their match today. Have not, and will not, be watching any of the World Cup but feel sorry for Egypt. We see so much enthusiasm for football that I think it would have been a nice boost for morale of the ordinary people if they had won a few matches/games (what do you call them?).

Years ago I was in Helwan during the African cup and Egypt was playing. It was wonderfully interesting to me to see all the TV outside on the streets with all the chairs lined up and ALL the men from everywhere watching. The cheers that went up when Egypt scored was deafening. Definitely the entire city was cheering Egypt on.
Don't get FIFA/Football on TV here and I probably wouldn't watch the games but I might watch the very last and final game. Same/same with hockey & the Stanley Cup. I don't watch all the games but sometimes (depending on the team) I might be persuaded to watch the final game.

LLL I remember the celebrations after the Africa Cup matches

Even after it stopped on the West Bank we could hear the noise from the East Bank. Unfortunately friends were in an hotel on the East Bank, with an early morning flight & the revelry went on to 4 a.m.

Well I shan't be watching any of the football matches. I'm totally unimpressed either by the game or the overpaid players. (Close your ears for a minute Grandad

)
When I was a Primary School the father of a class mate was getting £20 a week as a professional player!
Hi Grandad I've finished harking back!

Personally I think the extreme $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ salaries the players are getting is ridiculous and it doesn't matter the sport. No idea how their salaries ever got to the point of multi million dollars.
By and large I don't watch organized sports - American football, baseball, hockey, baseketball or golf. I do enjoy watching tennis, curling, bowling, horse jumping but while I say I enjoy watching I rarely do. I DO watch figure skating if I see it on TV but that is really about all and I don't follow any sport.

Rugby I do watch on TV and when it's available Australian rules football.
I love horses and had quite a few, but show jumping on TV sends me to sleep any time of day.

I hate football but I thought I would watch Egypt play, half time they showed some video of Mo Salah's village Nagrig, there was some people talking highly of Salah, and most of the video was great except for one guy who said Mo Salah has influenced many Muslim boys in the world! WHAT

why mention Muslim

Mo Salah has influenced many boys/guys in the world regardless of religion. Anyway it just ****** me off and I thought I would have a rant over here since the boss is away
