New scams

I have received 2 emails today that looked perfectly genuine but were scams and I deleted them of course without clicking any link. I just wondered if anyone else has received this type of scam today:
The first one claiming to be from Talktalk my service provider claimed that my monthly account due 4 April had not been paid. It is on a standing order and I checked my account and it had been paid. There was a button in the email marked Go to account and pay now.
The second was from Nationwide advising me that my account had been locked due to unexplained account activity. As before I went to my account and opened it with no problem. In this email there was a link to follow to unlock my accaount. Problen was, the link was a genuine Nationwide address but I suspect that by some means it would direct you elsewhere if clicked.
More examples of how you must be on your guard because these low life individuals make their scam mails look SO genuine

Well done Grandad,

NEVER click on a link in an email that refers to anything financial, always check by another method such as ringing the people concerned yourself with a number you know to be safe.

I have just had one of those Indian call center scam calls from 'Kevin'

he wanted me to press Crl + the Windows key which would have just scrolled up a load of warnings on my PC had I done so. These warnings are nothing to bother about and every PC will show up a list of errors, what they really want you to do is press further keys that will give them remote access to your PC so they can then insert ransom software and steal your data. I kept interupting him and asking when I should add the currry powder to my chicken tika and he seemed to get really annoyed by this and eventually hung up.

I get similar calls Horus from 'Talktalk'?
'Hello Sir, I am calling from Talktalk'
'No you are not' I reply.
He hangs up

I asked him where he was calling from and he said London

I asked him how he had got into work with all the snowdrifts, but he just glossed over it

I don't get any of those calls! I wish I did though, because a lot of people have come up with various ways to discourage them - and I'd like to try some!

I think my email address has been shared and I am now on a 'hit list'
They have tried Talktalk and Nationwide. Just had another one, this time claiming to be from Paypal. I treated it in the usual way but I copied the text:
We need your help resolving an issue with your account.
To give us time to work together on this, we've temporarily limited what you can do with your account until the issue is resolved.
We understand it may be frustrating not to have full access to your PayPal account.
We want to work with you to get your account back to normal as quickly as possible.
What's the problem? For reasons relating to the safe use of the PayPal service we need some more information about the use of your debit or credit card linked to your PayPal account.

Am sure that sooner or later we'll all get the proverbial email from one of our financial institutions and when we call to check in there will be some way they've managed to intercept that........all the scams seem to be getting more and more technically sophisticated and intrusive............BUT.........enough chat for now........... another relative from Africa is on the line waiting to give me more $$$$. It is getting soooooooo hard managing all these millions that arrive daily.
