Yesterday I was tracking my brother & his wife on one of their annual holidays.
I find it amazing with technology nowadays especially while tracking what you can follow by air , sea etc
They left Aberdeen for Santa Ponsa in the Balearic islands, in the photos they are flying over France , the little red plane is them.
It's amazing to see so many planes flying above our heads at any given time

Don't show that to anyone who has a fear of flying Kiya, they would never step on an aircraft again. Although when flying over Europe you seldom see another aircraft from your window seat it is quite amazing as you say, just how many aircraft are in the skies at any one time. Have to have faith in flight procedures and air traffic controllers.

Grandad,
One thing I do love is flying even though I see all that planes at once.
I'm always excited after the plane has taxied & is ready to rev up & down the run way , I love hearing the power of the engines & speeding up just before take off , it amazes me every time

Kiya, I use that same programe if I am tracking someones flight

only problem with it is the plane disapears from view at about 8000 feet when it comes into land and you have to wait about 15 minutes for them to say its landed.

Horus I don't use any particular tracking site, when I'm in Aberdeen airport site I just click on their live radar put in the flight number & hey presto !
But I agree with you they do disappear just before landing

Today Roy is off to Canada again for a few weeks, heading for Pembina NGL Corporation, I think its north of Edmonton.
He left Aberdeen this morning to Schiphol airport Amsterdam then at around 14.45 pm (13.45 pm our time) from Amsterdam non-stop to Edmonton Canada, I think the flight takes about 9 hours.
Horus I have it set up on the tracking site you gave me , so will see how it goes.

Did you track Roy, Kiya? I always track family and friends when on flights. It is a rather pointless pursuit because you cannot text them when en route but it is a bit of fun and another use of todays increasing technology.
I had a parcel delivered today by DPD. A text at 8am told me that Graham would deliver my parcel between 13.32 and 14.32. Graham actually rang my doorbell at 13.40.

Grandad yes I did track Roy on his whole journey with the tracker link Horus gave me, it worked OK
I always find it amazing that I can follow him on his journeys with work, I guess it gives me a little comfort watching his plane flights wherever work takes him, once I see the plane has landed I text him & he answers back, so I know all is well.
I found another tracker which was good, try this 1 sometime beta.flightstats.com
I agree todays technology has its uses
