A London borough plans to DNA test dog poop deposited on pavements (sidewalks LLL ;) ) then to trace the dog and owner so that prosecutions can be made.

There is only one London borough that would do that...

BARKING of course

You do have to wonder about the sanity of these people, just think of the cost involved. Just employ people with the power to issue a severe fine for fouling the pavements when it is seen. Once its happened its too late the next day, are they going to go around every house with a dog insiting upon a DNA sample then run a scan? utterly ridiculous. The only way it could possible work would be that when puppies are microchipped at the vets, they also take a DNA sample and its put on a National database, but even that is fraught with problems. Even chipped pets are often missed when they scan them at the dog pound and of course not everyone takes their pet to be chipped as a puppy.

Wow - wouldn't that be a novel idea to take hold - DNA testing your puppy when they're microchipped! And if DNA-ing POOP didn't work they could also swab trees! Imagine all the DNA samples they could get there - course that would be discriminatory as it would ONLY apply to the male dogs........

:tk :tk Wonder if dogs can actually be discriminated against based on gender??? :tk :tk
