Christmas Rush

One of our local grocery stores was offering a really good price on small hams. Bought one two days ago and it was extremely lean and good so was thinking about going back to buy another one. My dtr chimed in that she love 2 IF I was going in that direction but she didn't want to go with the kids cause of the crush and rush so I said I'd go and pick up a couple.

En route I was mulling over getting one or 2 for me and slicing and freezing and putting them into the freezer.

Got to the store, found a parking spot and luckily a buggy to put everything in as the store WAS busy.

Got the 4 hams, 2 tins of creamed corn (was on sale so figured 2 would do), a packet of extra batteries (also on sale to change out the fire alarms) and a celery plus the 4 hams. Not large - about 800 grams each.

Cashier cashed them through bagging them as she went and I focused on the debit card reader turning it to hide me putting in my PIN. Cashier was busy wishing everybody Happy Holidays etc.

I picked up bag #2 and looked to the end of the counter for bag #1 with 3 hams and it was GONE!!!!

Whilst checking out somebody had brazenly walked past the end of the counter and snagged my hams! Neither me nor the cashier saw the theft.

For whatever reason she immediately left her till and ran outside to 'see if I can see something' but ?

Anyway - the store did give me 3 more hams but that was pretty darn gutsy to snap a grocery bag right in front of us!!

AND - this again was the SAME STORE I had my BIKE STOLEN FROM!!! It is a relatively new store, was only built a couple years ago so it is nice and clean and spiffy but now I'm running TWO FOR TWO thefts!

It is a really lovely store environmentally and only about 2 maybe 3 yrs old. It has the big coffee shop on one end, they sell mostly fresh and organic meat & veggies - really nice but GEEZ!!!

I really still don't believe I didn't see somebody coming along and take the bag with the hams and even the clerk didn't see them either. Granted the store was really busy but WOW! Am starting to think it is an organized or semi-organized ring working that location.

I'd hate to think that individuals here are that desperate.
