I was just look at out CTV news from Canada - AND - it seems our illustrious and STUPID new Prime Minister IS still bringing in 25,000 refugees AND it is his plan to HOUSE THEM on Canadian MILITARY BASES!!!!
He has issued a ONE WEEK NOTICE to our OWN MILITARY People to GET OUT as he is going to use their Barracks to house refugees!!!
Honestly this man is an incredible IDIOT!! And so dismissive of all Canadian people

Yeah - it is the height of ridiculousness that this NEW (as in maybe 2 weeks ago) Prime Minister got into office and is now ordering soldiers out of their homes so he can meet HIS goal of having 25,000 refugees come in.
He is giving the soldiers only 'til Monday to be gone...........Absolutely ATROCIOUS!

It was the bleeding heart crew back in Eastern Canada who elected this latest PM who has pledged to take in 25000. Elections are won in Ontario & Quebec as they have the most dense population. Us guys out west just have to go along for the ride. (WE should separate)
However MOST of the people in BC are bleeding heart types too. I'm more than positive many people see this as being the "role of Canada" to save the needy, to help the down trodden as we, as a country, have a belief we're peacekeepers and so long as we are nice everybody will be nice back to us.
There is lots flying about on FB but I doubt anybody will protest anywhere. We should be I doubt it will happen.

Where are the military people moving to? Has he given them alternative accommodation, or better accommodation if they are to leave barracks? If they are being given better housing, then surely better that your refugees are all in one place and probably better monitored in their movements for now?

The problem with all these refugees as I see it is that they won't stay in the place they are put and soon they will be protesting and breaking out of the camps causing even more mayhem to the society that took them in.

i saw a fascinating interview with a refugee chap in Germany who is rather disappointed he hasn't been given enough pocket money to afford daily ciggies and there is no wi fi at the shelter they are staying in.

I 'believe' Canada is only taking families. I think, I hope.
As for the military guys as far as I know they have NOT been given alternative housing. I believe it is up to them to find it themselves!!! So we've got young servicemen thrown to the streets and told to go find yourself a spot!! WTF and I mean it too.
This is totally ridiculous IMO that we're taking this many people and we do NOT have spaces for them to live, we do NOT have jobs for them to do, we do NOT have the medical infrastructure to deal with them.
Right now "I" am in the USA having surgery (all done Monday and I'm more than Okee Dokee now!) as in Canada I would have had over a year wait just to get to see an OBGYN. But I'm more than exceptional as I have the ability to be here and have surgery whilst most of my Canadian friends do not and are stuck in wait lines that never move.
One of the biggest tragedies in Canada and heavily critiqued systems going is our National Health as people are dying in wait lines to get in to see a doctor!! Unless you're literally hit by a bus and collapse and are picked up by ambulance and brought to the hospital you do NOT get to see a specialist!!

@ Robbo, yes all these young men of military age baffles me also, OK you need weapons, but any number of countries would have supplied those had they asked. So just why are these able bodied men saving their own arse and letting their country go to the dogs? They must be leaving the most vulnerable behind to suffer at the hands of these morons while they flee to a safe haven, have they never heard of fighting back? They only needed to ask Turkey to arm them and send them back and I am sure that NATO would have supplied the arms. In the words of Edward Burke "In order for evil to flourish, all that is required is for good men to do nothing." And these so called refugees are doing Nothing.
I am afraid that the more I see of this so called ‘refugee’ crisis, the more it looks like a migration of cowards with a “devil takes the hindmost” attitude. Those of fighting age and able bodied should be housed in military bases in the first country they arrive in, trained in the use of weapons, armed and shipped back in fighting units. Yesterday the "news" came out that I posted that soldiers were being moved from their barracks.
TODAY this is the story:
Forces bases on standby for refugee arrivals
HALIFAX - Staff at Canadian Forces bases across the country are counting beds and making tentative plans to house and feed thousands of Syrian refugees expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
Capt. Evelyne Lemire, a spokeswoman at CFB Gagetown in New Brunswick, said they have not yet been told they will receive some of the 25,000 refugees the Canadian government has promised to accept by February.
But she said they have been asked to see how many they could accommodate at the sprawling base as part of what the military has dubbed Operation Provision.
"We've been asked to look at our options, our accommodations and so on, like the numbers," she said from the base near Oromocto. "We're ready to receive any Syrian refugees, if we're called on to do that."
Lemire said the base at Gagetown is looking at everything from how to provide food and medical services to allocating space for religious practice for refugees from Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan.
It's expected that bases in Quebec and Ontario will be called on initially to provide interim lodging for refugees, with bases and wings in other provinces expected to follow suit after the first wave of Syrians arrives.
The Forces could be asked to temporarily accommodate up to 13,000 refugees.
The newly elected Liberal government announced its plans Tuesday to resettle the refugees, saying it will miss by two months a self-imposed deadline of Dec. 31 to bring 25,000 to Canada. The new target is to receive 10,000 people by year's end and the remainder in the first two months of 2016.
Health and security screening will take place overseas and then refugees will be flown to Toronto and Montreal, largely on chartered aircraft.
From there, they will be spread across 36 different destination cities, which already have resettlement programs in place. Temporary accommodation will be provided by the military, if required.
It's not clear how long they would be housed at the bases, but an official in the Defence Department says it will likely play out like it did in 1999 when Kosovar refugees were housed in bases like Gagetown, Greenwood, Aldershot and Halifax in Atlantic Canada and others in Ontario. They stayed at the bases for roughly four months.
In Halifax, 12 Wing Shearwater may also be called on to take in refugees, but officials were still figuring out how they would accommodate both families and individuals in large barracks and other facilities.
The Forces have said they want to use empty beds and not displace military members, but may have to do some shuffling of personnel at bases in Valcartier, Que., and Edmonton.
"Some people who are in Valcartier on a temporary basis, such as for training, are being moved to another wing to free up contiguous space for possible refugee accommodation," Defence spokeswoman Ashley Lemire said in an emailed statement.
"In Edmonton, people who are scheduled to be there temporarily on training early in the New Year may be put up in rental accommodations."
Lemire says they have empty space at Gagetown, since their busiest season is in the summer.

We're soft - mushy soft - like prodding jelly.
The first story came out that we were moving out soldier from their barracks (as I posted). THEN I do believe there was lots of outcry about this sooooooo immediately it seems the story 'softens' and NOW today there is nothing that can be found about it.
IMO an order was given, an action taken. Then when the Powers That Be figured out it wasn't a very popular decision they don't really retract it rather they just start to change the parameters and go underground with it.
I'm positive I was not hallucinating when I saw the clip and read the article but now this issue has all but disappeared. I'm positive it is going ahead but now just not being talked about.
