Back to the 70's

Post by Horus »

News just in is that Jeremy Corbin has just been elected as the new leader of the UK Labour Party and his deputy is Tom Watson. This is IMO an utter disaster for the Labour Party, it has gone back to the type of Socialist leadership that made them unelectable for two decades.

Corbin is old school socialist and to me he is similar to Michael Foot the last leader that held similar views. He has been voted in on a wave of anti Toryism within this country, but mainly by left wingers who have come out to support him in big numbers, but he will have little support outside of the union members who also voted in his second in command, a ‘Unite’ union candidate.

I will make a prediction that this result will keep the Labour Party out of government for another few decades, their politics are so out of date. Corbin for example has in the past supported ‘Hezbola’ (sp) and even attended and put his name to the ‘Cairo Agreement’ that called for action against British & American troops. He favours massive ‘nationalisation’ and has an anti nuclear stance, I believe that once the majority of real voters realise that Labour now have a very left wing union led leader they will never vote for that party in a general election. The Tory party must be rubbing their hands in glee at this result, remember it is only a vote by around half a million registered voters eligible to actually take part in the vote, so it must not be taken as a true reflection of British opinion.

I was out of Canada for 15 years until the last couple and when gone I really didn't follow Canadian politics too closely. Now I'm back I see most of our politicians are still following a pretty strong socialist theme. No wonder we are 'in recession' and our economy not growing.
