Canals - The Making of a Nation

We have touched quite a lot on canals, not least with Horus's walks.
There is a new series 'Canals - The Making of a Nation' that starts this evening, 7.30 BBC 1. The preamble is a bit confusing but I think this first episode will focus on canals in each region then from next Tuesday on BBC4 the six episodes will be shown nationally in weekly editions.
Looks as if it will be interesting to those like me who are fascinated by the role of canals in our industrial past. If the timing is not good, like tonights, they can always be recorded or watched on good old 'catch up'.

Thanks for that Grandad, I have put it on for record.

It does look as if we have missed some of them though a sit is showing up as 4 of 6

Tonights program is about the 'Navvies' digging the Manchester Ship Canal.

That is interesting H. The piece in the program guide, although not very clear, says that this evenings 7.30 broadcasts by region will be about regional canals and then from next Tuesday on BBC4 the series will start nationwide. Very strange but I don't think I remember seeing these programs in the past????
Nice little trailer here

All is now explained. All 6 episodes were broadcast simultaneously at 7.30 with each broadcast within the local area that it applies to. I watched #6 on the iplayer but all 6 are available for the next 30 days so I shall be watching them all. #6 was excellent and I look forward to viewing the rest.
I expect that as they would have only limited appeal to the average plebs, they will run the whole series in weekly episodes on BBC4
LLL, does it mean that even if we give you the link you cannot watch these programs?

@ Grandad - sometimes I can get links and sometimes not. Not sure what the determining factors are but sometimes I've had messages that this link isn't allowed in this country and/or a more general 'not supported' (not sure what that means).

I have now watched 4 episodes on iplayer and they are really good for anyone like me (and Horus) interested in the history of our canals. But not everyones cup of tea I suppose. The HD photography is excellent.
