An elderly lady was standing at the railing of the cruise ship
holding her hat tight so that it would not blow away in the wind.

A gentleman approached her and said,
"Pardon me, madam..

I do not intend to be forward but did you know that your dress
is blowing up in this high wind?"

"Yes, I know," said the lady.

"I need both my hands
to hold onto this hat."

"But madam, you must know that you are not wearing any panties
and your privates are exposed!" said the gentleman in earnest.

The woman looked down, then back up at the man
and replied, "Sir, anything you see down there is 75 years old.

I bought this hat yesterday!"

I was a very shy 14 yr old at the railings of the ferryboat to the Isle of Wight lost in the beauty of the sea and the birds fighting the high wind.

I vaguely heard someone saying "Excuse me" several times with increasing volume,but didn't think they were talking to me.

Eventually I turned, and found my beautiful new circular skirt and petticoat werre round my shoulders

I was wearing pants though.

Nearly 60 years later I remember my mortification.

I have come to learn - pantyhose (at the back), after being pulled up, can take in an hold LOTS of dress material that otherwise should be hanging nicely about ones knees (NOT that I know this from first hand experience)

No good trying LLL. You haven't convinced me. And you have just been on a cruise ship, sounds like an autobiographical blog to me.
