Just had a very short message posted from Jayway as follows:
OPERATION,HOSPITAL,VERY ILL. MAYBE TELL MY FRIENDS PLEASE, XXX
Wishing you all the best Jaway and a speedy recovery to full health so you'll be back out there riding Glory and enjoying a sunny day.
I have no other info but definitely hope there is nothing too terribly serious and am wishing her a full and speedy recovery.

Let us hope that she is OK, please keep us informed if you get to know anything. Are there any family members or others that you personally know of that may need to be informed that she is in hospital? It is at times like this that people feel so helpless and unable to offer any help or show concern as we don't have much information to go on, here's hoping that all turns out OK.

I am also hoping that as she lives on a farm or next to one, that someone will be taking care of Glory for her

I do believe Jayway does live on a farm so I'd assume the farmer will feed/water and otherwise look after Glory.
Our Jayway just needs to recover and then give us all the details of what happened!!
GET WELL SOON!

No I haven't heard a word and I'm starting to get that niggling worry ...
I sent her an email asking her to give a word soon as she is able but so far haven't heard anything.
On the other hand if you're hospitalized you're not necessarily handy to the internet.
Here's hoping she is on her way to a speedy recovery and on the mend! :gws: :gw: :cb:

I have often pondered this

what happens when someone on our forums just disappears? OK I know that some people do just leave and that is an end to it and you have to respect their privacy, but what happens when a good forum friend goes missing and you are concerned for their wellbeing? I know that between us we have mostly shared our private email addresses so I reckon that through the grapevine network at least one of us can contact a missing member through their private email and ask if things are OK. What springs to mind is if that member lives alone or maybe with someone who is not computer literate or familiar with the forum, then would we ever know what has happened to them? I suppose if they were to share another email address of someone else who knows them (maybe brother, sister, son, daughter etc. with someone they trust or are in email contact with then it would be a route to finding out if something untoward were to happen to a particular member and pass it on, just thinking.

I spent some time and tracked down another friend of Jayways via old email addresses I happened to have however this friend has not heard from her either and has no other contact info either.
I think in some instances people do drop off but we all know it is cause they're disgruntled, moving on, other interests etc. I think we get the sense they are leaving but in this case it was an emergent serious health related matter.
Definitely hope she is on the mend and giving the staff of the hospital what for and demanding her laptop!

A good thought Horus. When Don Blackwell died, I don't think we would have known but for the fact that he had mentioned our phone calls to his daughter and she found my number in his address book.
I believe there is a space for notes in each of our profiles and perhaps we could leave a contact there. Although I know many of you via email, Mrs G does not use email so would not see any message.
I am going to start this by putting my daughters email in that box.
Edit: I have just checked and there is a box for Interests. I have put my daughters email there because the profile is easy to find.

Grandad, I am not so sure it is a good idea to make her email so public,

I was thinking more along the lines of any of us regulars, if we wished could lodge an additional email (preferably) or phone number or address with another member. I know for example that Kiya has my home address and I have hers, so for example she could give me Roy's email and I could give her say my son in laws, so basically another working email that one of us could contact. In the case of Jay, had we say knew an email for a friendly neighbour we could have enquired off them if all was well.

I was searching through old emails but I delete often so my OLD emails didn't contain any other emails. Then I remembered from a few years back that Jayway had apparently gotten a new cell phone, knew she could get local calls but wasn't sure if it worked internationally. Long story short I put this number into Skype and called her and it worked. I was able in Skype to find this number and have sent an SMS that I can see has been delivered - but - nothing has been received back

However this number might be active but maybe not even active to Jayway anymore
Here is hoping we'll all be getting emails from here again soon!
