I see that we have a new Member to E4U - Amira Yasser and, Amira is you are reading this - "WELCOME!"

I saw that you posted your Avatar as this:

5226

I thought it was quite interesting and would like to ask you what it says and what it means?

Normally I would also say welcome, but I am a little mystified by this thread as all new members have to have their first posts approved by a moderator and I have not seen any such posts to approve? It may be that Keefy has approved it due to me being a bit tied up lately so have not been around as often as I usually am, but on another point I do not like political statements or agendas and in particular ones that indicate some sort of violence. On viewing Keefy's link I noticed that one version of this sign had the four fingers replaced by assault rifles which made the gesture very intimidating to my mind, so if this is some sort of political statement I would ask Keefy to disallow it's use as an avatar as I for one do not want to see that sort of activity on this site. I have no problem with any topics that can be discussed by all and all opinions are welcome so long as they are not offensive to other members of the forum, but I draw the line at open political statements from any quarter and would no more approve of seeing a 'Black Panther' salute or the 'Ulster Red Hand' symbol used as an avatar. :stp

Horus, I agree with all you say and think it better if such symbols with their possible political implications, are removed.

On first sight I found the avatar interesting in that it probably had some personal significance to the poster. I didn't recognise it as a political symbol, if I had my comment would have been more guarded.

The last thing we, or any similar forum, wants is to be drawn into political debate or support for any extreme organisations.

When I first saw it I was a bit like Grandad in that I didn't know what it meant and was curious. Now that Keefy has supplied a link and I DO know what it means I'm not too sure at all that it is appropriate as it does have political implications.

I'd like to hear from new members particularly if they are Egyptian however if this site is being scouted as a possible Political forum - :stp :stp

I looked up the Members list and Amira is coming onto and visiting the site. Last visit was today (the 30th) however not posting which is unfortunate as it would be really terrific to hear from others who are living IN Egypt.
