MY KINDLE BOOKS

Just a couple of weeks ago I typed up a list of all the books I've read since having my Kindle on August 2011.
I was quite surprised, I'm on my 100th book now, in reality I thought it was more
I was getting a bit fed up checking through all the pages before downloading any books just to make sure I hadn't read them already, mostly I do remember by their "Title" or go through my list of orders on Amazon.
I remember reading somewhere somebody writing about a "Library" on the Kindle that you can move your books to once read but, I believe it was better to do this ( set up Library ) when I first had my Kindle
??? Horus you maybe can help here cause I wouldn't know where to start.........or it's maybe better just to delete them
?????
Just for fun who remembers my first book? ok I'll give you a clue......you folks down south were watching a Historical drama which didn't show here in Scotland so I had to settle for the book............it still hasn't shown here to date

Kiya you can set up a group and call it something like "All Read" or similar and then you choose one of the options that allows you to just 'Move' the books you have read into it. It is a while since I did it for Mrs H and to be honest I have not fired up her Kindle since she passed, but if no one else on here is using one and can give you the heads up, then I will have a look myself and tell you how to do it. What sort of books do you like?

I have a Kindle and went through the same problem of not remembering titles and never knowing what I'd read or not however I did figure out that on the toggle button if you push it LEFT (Push from right to left) you'll get a message that says "Remove from device." I then push the button 'yes.' This doesn't entirely remove the book so you can never get it again. It puts it back into a cyber Kindle library you can only access via your computer. Go online on your computer, look up your Kindle and you'll find the book again (if you ever need to) under the 'Removed from Kindle" category (although I'm not totally sure that is the exact name).
I always immediately remove once I've read so I don't end up having to scroll through and find out I've started re-reading what I've already read.
I've never counted but I have quite a sizeable stack of books in my 'removed' category but 100 books in the time frame isn't too shabby!!!

Thank you LLL....I think I've seen that " Remove from Device " somewhere but without knowing exactly what I'm doing I hate to start pushing buttons here & there just in case knowing me I'd do something wrong
I have found the Quick Start Guide that came with Kindle but nothing about the Library.
I'll have a looky at my kindle on Amazon to see if I can find anything further there.
Thanks again

My one criticism of Amazon is that they really do not give detailed instructions on how to use the Kindle. I found that it is hard to find exactly how to do things and I really need a step by step guide to everything. I'm not at all intuitive when it comes to technology.

Kiya best if you just create a new folder as you would for a new author and transfer them into that if you want to keep the books on your deveice

Hmmm - I don't think I could create a folder on my Kindle. Maybe you can I just don't know if I could. Kindle is linked to Amazon.com so I 'think' (Maybe) if you were going to create categories you'd have to do it on computer........I think. BUT, again, I'm not that cyber wise - matter of fact I'm far from even remotely wise I rarely know anything!

LLL I'm like you I need the step by step guide in front of me or else I dare not touch
Horus are you saying on my Kindle to create a new folder............yikes how??
I was thinking what do I want to keep them for anyway ? it's not though I would go back & read them again but, I did remember my daughter getting some books from my Kindle downloaded via her phone, ipod tablet whatever it was, any I paid for she fancied reading she would get them free from my Kindle, so I think it may be this why I wanted to keep them

@ Kiya - If I'm reading a murder mystery or biography once I'm done with it I'm done but the ones I've paid for I want to keep and I'd love to be able to create a category for my serious books and eliminate all the freebie fun reading ones I no longer want. I do know that once you have a Kindle you can also "open an App" so that you can read your Kindle books on your laptop/ipad/iPhone/ipod/whatever. I have no idea HOW to open an app but it can be done and (I think) this allows more people access to your books. I also you know you can apparently "Lend" your books but ??? Have no idea HOW to do this.
Am sure I can DO way more things on my Kindle than I am actually doing.

I like the idea of these Kindle things especially around a pool in Luxor, where I see so many these days, though I have to admit, I still use the old tape machine, where some one is telling you the story. I love the political biographies, of the person telling you of their past lives.
My favourite has to be that Margaret Thatcher, when she tell you how she got rid of certain ministers who she did not like her policies, the venerm in her voice is still there even after all those years, and that feel in her that she regrets that her idea of a new world order has not come into being.
I have to admit the funniest I have ever heard were the Alan Clarke diaries, hysterical,.........but, very, very true.

I'm with you on biographies been a great read A-Four. I love 'em. I've never sat and 'listened' to a book. I see that cyber audiobooks ARE available from my local library so that I could get them on my laptop but so far have never yet got one and listened to it. Might be my next thing to try. I definitely DO enjoy my books

Horus are you saying on my Kindle to create a new folder
Yes you can group all your books under 'authors names' and transfer that authors books into that group, so all you do is to give it a name you like as it has no idea what authors name you will type in to start with, you may for example type 'Agatha Christie' but you may also type 'Already Read Books' or some other description, I will try to look it up for you on Mrs H's Kindle.
