Just watching breaking news where there has been a new terror tape released threatening the upcoming Olympic games.

I find this really super sad as the Olympics has always been a world effort to bring about greater understanding of each other via athletic competition.

Not that I'm going to the Olympics but with the increasing terror threats I don't think many people or as many people are going to brave the threat. OR does one go anyway so as to not allow the terrorists to control via threats?

Thoughts? I almost have too many - who is going to be targeted? by whom? for what reason? tourist safety? athlete safety? building safety? airplanes going to be targeted?

I have not seen this new threat warning, but I would lay money on which particular religious group have made the threat

Came across as a 'breaking news' but I've been out for most of the day and haven't caught any further updates about this.

Time is counting down and am sure athletes and tourists are starting to flood into Russia. Sure hope nothing untoward happens and definitely hoping for the safety of all who are going there to attend.

Russia has plenty of it's own ethnic groups demanding some sort of change, of course most of them have some of religious agenda.

There is a rising voice here that Canada not send any of our athletes because of the element of danger.

I agree H. I will be VERY surprised if there is not some incident, at the very least, attacks on gay competitors or, at worst, some sort of terrorist attack.

Quite agree that it seem an inevitable that 'something' untoward is going to happen. Just too much overall instability. Definitely hope nothing happens but I think that is a false hope. Just a matter of 'when.' Sure hope it can be contained and kept minimal but I think something is inevitable.
