Lately I'm not able to get the B to bold, the i (for italics) to italicize or the U to underline. The quotes button doesn't make quotes for me either..........

Anybody else on here having these difficulties? Been awhile since these buttons just above what I'm typing now worked properly for me - none of these are working at all

I supposer you are using them correctly?
As in clicking the quote button first to get the [ quote ][ /quote ] brackets like this inserted into your post, then Cut & Pasting or typing your quote between the middle pair of ][ brackets to get this:

And the BOLD, ITALICS & UNDERLINE options buttons have to be clicked After you have highlighted the selected text, as in.

Bold
Italics
Underline

If these do not work then I am not sure what your problem is.

Nope - I've just typed each word and then highlighted and then clicked the button and nada is happening.......I do know that usually, for example, if I want to bold something right after I click on it then you get the words and symbols on either side of what I've bolded or quoted etc so I can immediately SEE what I've done - but lately nothing is happening when I do this.....(both here and on the blue I can't get bold to bold, underline to underline or quote to quote) AND on the blue I've noticed lately a few other posters who used to make proper quotes not doing this too (I do believe Who2, Dsaxelby are 2 of them - just noticed that they're quoting but the proper highlight box isn't happening)

Soooooooo - Keefy you're in my account and you can make highlights and bolds and quote and I can't........hmmmmm........???

BTW - I am getting smilies and stuff ......

It is only that they might quote someone then delete some of the text from the quote, in some cases they delete one of the ] (square brackets) while doing so, so the quote ends up not been shown correctly, on other occasions who2 has just put " (speech marks) to quote someone.

The BBCode buttons are using the same script as the smilies, so if the smilies work then the BBCodes should work.

IF they dont work for some strange reason then just type the codes in if you need them.

[u]for underlined text[/u]

I mentioned Who2 cause while he does sometimes use " " (and I do too) right now he has some posts over on the Blue where he was quoting and none of them have the " " and are just coming out plain text like if I tried to

Geez - dunno what is happening......cause I can get smilies from page #1 only. None of the ones on page 2 or 3 are coming out HERE when I click on them......I click on them and the cursor just flashes back to my screen here........???

I just 'edited' to get back here and want to say I was having this same problem even before the snowflakes so it isn't them.

Do you think this is happening on my end? What could it be? And how do I fix it? OR even try to fix it?

The only plausible problem is that javascript is not working, but since the smilies are working then it's not that

The easiest way is for you to open the forums in a different browser to the one your using (Explorer, Firefox, Chrome) and see if you get the same problem or not, if it works then you know some setting in the browser you have been using is set wrong or something in your browser is blocking the BBCodes, ive not got a clue why it would do this though (never heard of anything like this before).

Do the above and let us know

Or does LLL have the BBC codes disabled in her user settings? would that affect it?

Seems that when I highlight the buttons on top are not sensing this as they're not adding the [] etc.

It is unlikely that I can offer anything constructive here but, LLL, have you been through all the options in your User Control>Profile. There are many options to switch on or off and, as BBcodes have been mentioned, there is an option under Profile>Board Preference>Edit Posting Defaults>Enable BBCode by Default. The next option is Enable Smileys by Default. I thought you said you could open smileys so is this option ticked 'yes' and the BBCode 'no'?

I have just disabled the running of scripts on my browser and this causes the BBCode buttons not to work so I think this might be your problem, yet I have no idea why your smilies are still working, unless you are typing the code in instead of clicking on them.

So check that your browser as the running of scripts enabled.

If you have the running of scripts enabled in your browser and it still does not work then maybe this is caused by an external program you have running on your computer that disables the running of scripts, some ad/pop-up blockers might have this feature.

The best is to do like I said in a previous post, try another browser and see if you encounter the same problem.

hmmmm. I can't get Mozilla as it isn't compatible with my laptop (don't have a clue why) and I don't have Goggle Chrome.

Mostly it is only puzzling to me as I was able to get these features and functions until a week or so ago and then they just stopped.

If I remember I'll give it a go when I'm over at the dtr's house. She has Firefox and I believe Chrome too. Will see if that makes a difference and allows me to get some of the functions back. Miss quote the most.
