The power of advertising

Ever wondered about the power of advertising?
I was browsing about on You Tube and decided to listen to The Kinks singing Lola, a brilliant song that if you listen carefully to the words is about a transvestite, great song and a favourite of mine.
But…… as I listened to this version which is to all intents and purpose the original ( I have a pretty good ear for music and remembering song lyrics) so it struck me that something was wrong with the words of this version which I am sure is the original recording

It should have the words “I met her in a club down in old Soho where you drink champagne and it tastes just like Cherry Cola
But to my surprise the words said “Coca Cola” so I did another search and found what I know to be the original version sung with the correct words and here it is:

So now I am wondering if this is some sort of insidious advertising by the Coco Cola company to get the Kinks to modify the song to include their own brand name? Very curious.

I'm sure advertisers are not above doing anything and everything to get their own way to sell their product and put it forward as being #1. Subliminal advertising, am sure, is everywhere.

Cherry cola is made by Coca Cola anyway, so they got advertising in both songs

Is there anything you have had no intention of ever purchasing but because of advertising bringing it to your intention you just had to have it?

Probably most things LLL :D

On most occasions though it might just be a change of brand, for example a new brand might seems much better than one i'm using now :)

I have never purchased anything on impulse from seeing advertising, although it may influence me to look at that product further if say I had an initial interest. So maybe if I were already in the market for a new camera then I may look at a particular one if it had some good advertising behind it, but it would not influence me to buy if I were not already thinking about doing so.
