My RANT - Somtimes once the tables turn and everything starts to go south it just keeps going.

Was a really dull weatherwise winter so I thought I'd treat me to Mexico again. Even opted to go to a SPA resort and decided pre-going I wasn't going to take any tours, sneak away or otherwise amuse myself.........strict and total R 'n R.

Got out of Canada ok, LONG trip to my US departure city. Just prior to leaving the space bar key on my laptop broke so left it with a repair shop to replace the keyboard pending my return from Mexico (at this writing almost 3 wks later still don't have it)

Pick up to the airport was late cause they apparently couldn't find me (used this company for travel for 13 yrs so WHY they couldn't find me this time I dunno). At the airport I got randomly picked for random screening. Getting late, getting late AND as it was 4am when my alertness ebbed I LEFT my travel laptop at the TSA screening area. Dont like being separated from my stuff to be screened in the first place but returning to amass it and re-pack at 4am in a rush.......well this was just the start. (Did get my laptop back but I had to drive all the way back to the airport when I returned)

Got the the SPA Resort - 5 stars and all 'cept SURPRISE! RENOVATIONS!!! Can't argue that this resort didn't NEED them. It sure was tired (not sure how it managed to keep the 5 star rating).........It then became a daily chore to have to ask for towels (believe it or not this Resort often reported they just didn't have enough!!! WOT???? NOT enough towels in a 5 star???) Second chore was to ask to have the room made up, water delivered and to trust a wake up call would be coded in was non-existant. This was also interspersed with all electricity being shut down meaning NO A/C in HOT weather. Not even going to mention the line ups to try and actually make app't to get into the SPA although that was the one pleasant side of the trip - the full body massages, facials, marine baths, wraps, manicures, pedicures etc were excellent.

The BEST happened when 3rd day in I came down with food poisoning. My stomach can be termed 'iron clad.' I mean I've drank the water in Cairo, Luxor, all over Trinidad, eaten from street vendors and have NEVER suffered adversely - 'cept this trip. The final straw came when I asked if there was a doctor and the hotel advised they had one. Informed I'd probably have to 'walk' to see same or pay a larger bill if he had to come to me. Have to sadly admit I lost it. Rarely do and I'm not reactionary but I did and basically demanded to see GOD himself!! Guess my hysteria and the image of me storming the lobby in ratty hotel housecoat in my all together carrying the bucket was enough to cause the Resort to send a Manager to see me.

He actually explained that the resort was owned by 2 brothers who had a falling out. They split their holdings and the one brother acquired the laundry and was hence denying the other brother access. This explained the 'no towels'.......the renovations are just happening but he was optimistic the entire complex would be wonderful when finished. He was able to send another fellow who was able to book ALL my Spa app'ts...........

All in all there was just a total series of nitnoid things that aggravated the life out of me on this trip. Rained for 2 days when I was there, had at least 2 or 3 days of gale force winds, no towels, no shade, no towels, no beach chairs AGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was almost happy to come back to this dull grey fog. Hate to say but even the flight back was so bumpy didn't even get a change to use the loo cause couldn't take the seatbelt sign off.

On a bright note I DID finally get a few good photos of pelicans BUT they got downloaded onto my laptop that had the keyboard replaced with the broken space bar key. When I retrieved it it then had no ? or / key, no Z and none of the numbers worked so it is BACK getting fixed. Course I downloaded all my photos first..............sometimes when things go south they just seem to pick up momentum. Am hoping the tide will turn soon ;) ;) :)

Am now going to give Mexico a rest 'til the memories fade..........am thinking Panama or Belize AND I also definitely need to get back to Trinidad too.

Sorry - just my RANT for now..........

Yep - just wasn't in the stars that I would have a decent time..........NEXT time WILL be better :)

NOW I just need to have the computer guys FIX my laptop so I can get it back in time for my departure! I broke the space bar key which is extra wide. When they put in a new keyboard I was out a whole bunch of keys. Was quite annoyed with them when I got it home and found out cause they had it for 2 weeks, said they completely tested it an all was A-ok! Had I not typed on it and asked a question I'd of been in Canada with a broke laptop. At least with the broken space bar I could push down on the left of the bar and make a space. No ??? means NO ??? or /// either. Z's aren't that common but when you need one you need one - Freeze means something while Freee kinda gives another meaning.........
