For anyone interested in wildlife Winterwatch starts tonight & for the next 3 nights on BBC 2 at 8.30pm in the HIGHLANDS .......looks interesting

I shall make a note to watch that

I watched it tonight and it was quite enjoyable, very much the same as Springwatch & Autumnwatch

I think we have seen so many of these wildlife programs that it is difficult for the producers to find something new. Even Attenboroughs 'Africa' includes much that we have seen before.

A short series that I DID enjoy was last weeks 'Polar Bears and Me' by Gordon Buchanan. A spectacular location and a story to follow the trials of a mother bear and her two cubs. The sad loss of one cub and her efforts to care for the remaining cub. Great stuff and Gordon has come to the fore now that we seem to see less of Simon King who is mostly working in Africa:up

Gordon Buchanan's series was brilliant, I wouldn't fancy being in that cage though Grandad, I reckon if that bear had tried a bit harder ............

I only watched the first half on Monday evening and recorded the second half. That was better particularly the piece about the Waxwings. Those amazing pictures of the lad in the Hebrides, or was it Orkneys? Whatever, there were some lovely shots of him with the birds.

Last night was not too interesting except perhaps the grey seals in Norfolk. I shall still watch/record again this evening.

I think tonight was better seeing the red deer & the long tailed ducks was amazing!

I agree Kiya, those Long Tailed Ducks were lovely. Such clearly defined colours. But on the whole I am not finding the programme very interesting. Bill Odie used to get on my nerves when he did the 'Watch' series and now we have Packham who is so full of himself.

If Chris Packham watched Africa tonight I am sure he would have got SO excited watching the Skimmers he would have wet his pants.

He can be a pain in the butt at times, but it is the way he will rubbish some really great photographs that annoys me the most.

I agree, sometimes the camera is on the presenters far too long.
