Lance + Cycling

This is something of a rant.......Not that I'm a BIG cycling fan and not that I even really watched the races but part of me admired Lance Armstrong as an athlete who faced personal difficulties and over came to be a first class world champion in his sport only to find out that he was possibly probably "DOPING" all along!!
What a low blow to all those who trained and trained and TRAINED legitimately for years of races to be cheated by a 'guy' (can't use the word athlete) who all along had doping down to a fine science and now if he is stripped of his medal there will be NO 'winners' for any of the races 1999 to 2006 (not sure the exact dates).
As more and more athletic dopers are being found out I find that I'm more and more reticent to read about, admire or think about any athlete. Doping is so detrimental to sports in general and is so hurtful to the rest of us, particularly kids, who might be aspiring to achieve the same level, to work as hard as these athletes.
Leave me wondering if ANY of 'em are CLEAN and TRUE to their SPORT? OR are they all just ticking time bombs waiting to be found out?
I find it so disgusting that in this case a world class cyclist actually stood there knowing he doped and accepted a medal/award for his achievements!!
