Is it just me or is the quality of TV being eroded by all these "reality shows" that are now taking over? I love Discovery Channel and Nature Shows but seems every time I turn the TV there is nothing but 'reality shows' on.

"Parking Wars? Cupcake Wars? Real Housewives?" ETC

TV should be reflecting our lives and values as a culture but OMG where are we at with all these "Reality" programs.......not sure any of these are really REAL! Are they supposed to be comedic?

I'm not a great fan of TV at all these days, LLL. Occasionally a series of programmes comes along which I watch but most of the time - I'd sooner read or be on the PC!

LLL agree..........sometimes its more entertaining to watch an advert

They are cheap to make LLL and if there is a phone vote at premium rates, they are self financing......

I DO agree with you and it sounds as if UK TV has dumbed down much as your US TV has.

I'm seriously thinking of cancelling my cable TV. For years I just had the basic few channels. Then to get 'better' TV (and more channels) you had to buy a more expensive package. Did this to get Discovery Channel, Animal Planet etc. and one other really good channel that my Cable Co has since decided not to include in my 'package.' Lately I've come to realize that I only ever really watch Channel 37 (History Channel), Channel 43 (Animal Planet), Channel 44 (News) and Channel 8 (Discovery Channel).......FOUR Channels! Yet I'm paying for channels 2 through 121 BUT of all of these only 4 are worthy of watching. Most of the channels are "reality TV" and OMG I don't have the patience to pass these channels as I'm searching for something to watch.

Maybe I'm keener on watching what is NOT Real as Reality is worse than fiction! And we wonder where society is getting it's values these days........??????????
