EUROVISION 26TH MAY
Oh yes!!!!!! Engelbert Humperdinck is representing the UK this year on 26th May.
The song choice is not known yet but, I really hope he does well, got to be better than the rubbish we've had in the last few years.
Will I be watching .........you bet c'mon Engelbert make it a winner

Re: EUROVISION 26TH MAY
But he is up against Jedward Kiya......I am not quite sure if that suggests that Ireland doesn't want to win again or if they think those annoying twins will be a cert.

Re: EUROVISION 26TH MAY
It costs a lot to mount these international events, usually more than they bring in in revenue. The Irish simply can't afford to win. In fact they may be hoping that they are never invited to participate again. That can be the only logical conclusion of that particular choice. But, Humperdinck? I am no spring chicken, in fact I am pushing sixty, and he was OLD when I was a girl. Perhaps the UK finds itself in the same position as Ireland?

Re: EUROVISION 26TH MAY
I have to agree with everything being said, although he did make some good songs, do we really want to win this competion where everyone gangs up to vote against us? who is interested anyway? (apart from Kiya ) and is he not a tad old for the job? and finally, does he actually live here anymore?
But just to make Kiya happy, his big hit 'Please Re-Grease Me'

Re: EUROVISION 26TH MAY
Apparently he has a following in eastern Europe so perhaps our organisers are trying to play a new game.

Re: EUROVISION 26TH MAY
It is a genuine song that he recorded for a Bevis & Butthead movie and it is being sung by their teacher Mr Van Driessen, so it is real, but also a Micky take.

Re: EUROVISION 26TH MAY
I gave up watching The Eurovision Song Contest many, many moons ago but sadly have not been able to avoid all promo's etc from it over the years. Having pondered the question of should England have Englebert Humperdink as it's contestant I have come to the conclusion that it is a matter of economics. England needs to fail again this year because it would not be able to afford to pay to host it in 2013. It will still be too far in debt paying for the Olympics. England will however have some large, modern spaces, complete with accommodation blocks and hospitality it suites which would be ideal venues for the 2013 E.S.C. In the light of this I propose that the powers that be start the promotion exercise quickly and get in there to promote all our hospitality facilities, and security, as soon as the winning country is announced.

Re: EUROVISION 26TH MAY
At last; it would appear that more countries are likely to treat this annual event for what it really is....a joke.
Ireland kicked off with Jedward, the UK followed with 'Hump' who will be 76 at the time of the contest, and now Russia has decided to enter a female group of six grannies whose combined age is over 400 years and the eldest is in her eighties.
It might even be worth watching this year.....looks like some good entertainment value
