Way above Shetland tonight the moon, sun & earth are aligned, doubt if I'll see anything for heavy clouds

Yep! Total eclipse of the moon today.....the moon will disappear in the shadow of the earth for about 100 minutes in total but we won't see much of it. You may be more lucky Kiya if there is a break in the clouds. :)

I'll keep a look out but I doubt it x:)

Kiya I have just looked at some US charts and I think the eclipse finished for us at around 16.20.....if I read things correctly. :(

Such a shame because we have a brilliantly clear full moon and totally clear starry sky. :(

Ah well, have to wait for the next one in 2014......

Some pics showing the moon today taken between 4.00-5.00pm, it was huge & bright but still hazy & very cloudy.
Tried different setting in each one with telephoto lens.......they could have been better really but it was so cold hanging out the window.

They are not bad at all Kiya, a little bit of sharpening in Photoshop or whatever will bring out the detail nicely. :)

I think your photos are really quite interesting Kiya even moreso cause you are hanging out a window!

Horus I tried the " sharpening " but, as there was some noise in the pics especially the last 2 the sharpening made the noise worse.

I reduced the noise but not too much otherwise the last 2 would have been distorted altog hence why they are not so close up x:))

Kiya, hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of slightly adjusting the first picture in your list, not sure if the difference will show up so well on here with the reduced upload quality though.

Horus ...thanks :) yes I do see the diffence you have made & now the reddish markings 3/4 up the photo slightly to the left which I did'nt notice before.
I went back to the original photo to see if the marking were there.......yip they are :D & to the right & bottom left.

That is often a problem when you try to enhance a picture, all the faults show up. :( I have to admit that it was a bit late when I did the changes and did not really notice it had made that part of the picture look worse. Maybe that could have been corrected by making a selection of that part of the picture and then adjusting the Hue/Saturation levels. :)
