I know our Jayway has been off on holidays but am thinking she is long overdue to be back. Anybody got news? (She is probably sunning herself of a warm sunny beach somewhere!)

She was in Jordan just before I left for Luxor, then she was in an Egyptian resort, so we kept in touch through our "Egyptian Mobiles" during my stay in Luxor.
I know that she was heading back to Jordan for a while longer, and on the Tuesday before I flew out of Luxor we had a conversation, and she said she was trying to avoid using the ferry back to Jordan, as one had caught fire and sunk, and another ferry had been stranded.
That was almost 3 weeks ago ?
So, yes I am a little concerned, that I have not heard from her, But I do know she was having a great time..
I will go through my e-mails and see what she said about the duration of her Holiday. I am sure it was going to be for quite some time though, and I only ever heard from her when she was in Egypt, never when she was in Jordan. I can only guess she is still there having a wonderful time..
If I find out more from my e-mails, I will post..

Ahhh - yes! Sounds just like her! Good to know she is 'in fine form'! I miss getting all the jokes and hadn't heard anything for a while soooo my assumption about her lying about soaking up the sun on a sunny beach sounds about right for where she is!

:):)
Hope she is taking lots of photos!

Today, I received a link from her to sign a petition. ( Who'd have thought )
So, I can confirm that somewhere out there, she is alive and well.
I imagine she has just got back home in Portugal, and is sifting through her e-mails.....
She never sends these links when on her Holidays..
I am sure that her FIRST priority in the daylight hours will be to check on her horse and take it out for a long ride, surveying her huge estate to check all is well..
Expect a post from her in the next few days

Hello everyone, and yes I am back home again. It was a long trip, thanks to Easyjet, 36 days, Faro, Gatwick, Amman was 186 GB, 3 or 4 weeks was double ! It was a great trip thanks to my 2 web friends invites and Jordan is so different from Egypt - like civilised ? One friend checked out hotels for me and chose a suite in uptown Amman, close to the hospital and Uni, so the hotel had Saudi residents, who would never get in the lift with me, talk about racist ! ! I would have like to have asked them why but of course they wouldnt talk to me - haaa haaa. My room was quiet (on a large crossroads) warm, large sat tv and kitchen and the staff were just great, nothing was too much trouble. This cost 22 jd ( about the same as euro) a night, and the crossroads had every shop you could wish for. Whist I stayed here I toured the northern part with one friend and the southern parts with the other friend, I could not believe my luck ! Thankyou for asking about me, as usual I returned ill-ish after a heart hiccup that flattened me for a few days- If anyone ever asks about the Aqaba Ferry to Nuweiba tell them NO -! !

If I'd known you were considering it I would have told you! It's appalling according to two friends and some of my clients who tried it, despite my warnings. Far better to go by land or fly.
I absolutely love Jordan! I have worked on excavations three times at ancient Pella, at Tabaqat Fahl, in the north near the crossing to Israel. I never tire of visiting Jerash, Ajloun, Umm Qais, the "Desert Castles", Petra and the Citadel and its museum in Amman, among others.
Hope you are fully recovered.

I have been on big sized ships in the Gulf of Aqaba and felt sea sick, so a ferry must be awful.
